Fencer, can't you re-write the default-skin for the viewer?

In this case, make the defualt P-51D skin the Red-nose one?

Nice shot, Nutzoid. In the A8, however, you will most likely find that you have far superior results if you fire cannons only. 4 x 20mm and/or 2 x 30mm cannon is not an armament to be scoffed at, and will kill anything in one hit, most of the time.

It seems that in this pic, your MG rounds are hitting, but the ones that will get the kill are slightly off. Because of the way the cannon rounds drop compared to the MG rounds, imho, it is better just to let fly with the cannons so that you know when they're landing.
