I do believe those were cannon rounds +bb's being shot. :) Cannon rounds have the circular smoke around the stream.

Hm, my film had 0 in the counter, mayhaps those were the last few, but a tater hit would cause an instantaneous poof as well as create a tell-tale explosion, rather than just fracturing the spit's wing, no?

I am pretty sure a cannon doesn't make that kinda of bullet stream but you may be correct.

I always thought I noticed all bullets making the same stream...

Nope, cannons have that smoke ring around them. The bigger the shell, the bigger the rings.

Well, I was shooting at him, but came in too fast and overshot, then someone else got him. I'm surprised the game didn't make us collide, passing that close.

My first post in this thread :D  This was from the December FSO last year after catching a 262 just off the end of his runway.  The 262 is tail less at this point, and I was doing about 450mph in the mustang with two 190's chasing :lol

Ok, this one requires a bit of backstory.
So, I was flying with my squaddies hunting in a Mossie, ended up trying to dive away from a P-51D (doesn't work) and at the end of the dive he shot out every fuel tank I had but ONE, oddly enough I didn't light up, explode, or lose anything else, although I had about 8 minutes of fuel left in that one tank. After he overshot, I missed nailing him with cannon, then chased him in a shallow climb for a while. Eventually, he turned back to engage, at which point I hit the deck and ran until he was about 1k behind, then I broke into a hard turn and threw out flaps, as did he, we did a few spirals around, then, and I'm guessing this is what happened, my esteemed and worthy opponent made a mistake, it appeared as if he stalled slightly and had to alter his course to recover it before resuming the turn, which was all I needed to take the shot and win the duel. I then had to take a ditch cause I was out of fuel. The actual fighting portion was very short, less than 25-30 seconds, but I enjoyed it a lot. <<S>> RELIC

Note the bullet holes ALL OVER my poor Mosquito.  :O

Pony shouldve never turned with that mossie. That wooden plane can practically hover and do circles at 80 IAS. Good shot too!
