Aircraft Carriers

it would be great if instead of the ring formation of the current CV with destroyers and cruisers, if the boats would be a little more randomly formed up and in a few different formations.

added to this i thought it would be an interesting idea to add some merchant tubs with fuel and ord values for the carrier, and maybe a few manable .50cals.
you could even add a 'vehical hanger' ship that disabled lvts and pt boats once sunk.

even further i wondered if the carrier commander could have a list of formation options for the task group. and add an option for cruise control, maybe a scale from dead stopped in the water right up to full speed. at present a single bomber pilot knows exactly what his target is going to look like and can easily line up on the flight deck and the cruiser in one run.  the buff can do this from 20k no problem every time because he knows the formation precisely and how much to lead for the task group's speed.
400 yrds on my tail, right where i want you... [/size]

I like it :aok

But I'm not sure about the speed option, there'll be nubs stopping a fleet right in front of a base, it'll be a sitting duck out there

cc, its getting kind of old when I go to bomb the CV...I hit the destroyer, then the CV, then the crusier...maybe every time you turn the CV it sets up a different form...

ADDED:  Also speed of carrier should also determine weight of aircraft that can take off.

All in all, the CV's speed should be decreased alot, it's currently running at full steam all the time!

That would mean HTC would have to model variable wind. They don't have that feature now.

The feature is there. It's simply disabled for the public arenas. It can get pretty windy during special events.

no, they would speed up to get more lift on the wings.

The ability to have different fleet formations exists. You have to build it into the map though. Remember the fleets with like 6 DDs and 2 CAs next to a CV? :D

Thats one of my major gripes with aces high.
The fact you cant change bomber formations,or how ships are spaced/lined up.

If we could have a limited ability to change things up a bit,the outcome would be much less "canned" over and over and over.

Im all in favor of larger fleets, but no need for more ack for folks to hide in. More ships, but with fewer guns on each so the ammount of ack remains the same.
