On that same show was "when Buddy Rich plays a theater, he really plays a theater" which was a much more impressive display of percussion as music than just fast and loud. Dude definitely had chops, but I still go for Philly Joe Jones as the better artist.

Rich could do more with 4 drums and one stick then almost anybody, he also filed bankruptcy more then anyone I have ever heard..

Lou Belson was equally as great live and in person, Max Roach was great too, all in thier own way....

My dad was the Ludwig rep who worked out the sponsorship deals...
I met some interesting characters... Rich was my least favorite, always mad and yelling at someone...
