Looking for a MS Force Feedback2
« on: May 02, 2007, 03:28:34 PM »
Hullo all.

I realize that I only have one MS FF2 stick left, and if it goes, I'm in deep trouble. It's the only stick I've ever loved!

Does anyone know where I might be able to get a new/good condition FF2? Specifically I'm looking for the 2nd version, with the red trigger and rubberized grip. I'll do Ebay if I must, but I'd prefer to try other sources first.

Nomak was generous enough to donate his to me. I haven't seen him on since then to thank him though.

You might try emailing him through the board, or he may see this post. Might ask if he has another for sale/trade etc.,

Thanks kindly. :)

God, I just don't understand why MS shut down the Sidewinder division. Best stick for the money, imo. Real solid, great precision, great quality.

I used to have one lying around, I'll take a look for it when I get home.

Condition - Used it for 1 week, hated it, went back to my MS PP2.

Because their policy for returns was if you break it we will give you a brand new one for free.  People obviously took good advantage of this kind nature and i'm sure it didn't become profitable.

Wow! If you do have a FF2 lying around, please let me know. I'd definitely be willing to work something out with you.

If I were MS, I'd try to keep the Sidewinder brand on the market just so there's a strong presence in the joystick market. Even if the Sidewinder division loses money, seems like it's good PR to have a cheap, high-quality product on the market. It's not as though MS is in danger of bankruptcy...

Edit: That's it, I'm writing my Senator.

hmmmm

cheap and high quality in the same sentence is like looking for the promised land.

FFB2 was my 1st stick and I had it for 3 years I loved it.  parts and buttons eventually fell off.  drifted to saitek twisty sticks much less durable but still good.

CH stick and pedals now these two better not break for a good 5 years ;)

I have one that's in perfect shape . It's the silver triggered one . I have the outside box (it's orange colored) also but the top must have had a rebate because it has a square cut out of it , plus it's missing the inside packing for the box .

I "do" have both org CD driver disks .

I never used the "twist" action as I always used CH pedals . I also never used the Throttle as I used a CH Pro Throttle also . I quit using it when I went to Win XP and got a CH Combatstick .

I been watching them on eBay , they go for too much money IMO .

Here's a link that had 11 bids
http://cgi.ebay.com/Microsoft-Sidewinder-Force-Feedback-2-Joystick_W0QQitemZ300102775991QQihZ020QQcategoryZ74944QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Here's another that had only 1 bid , looks funny to me .

I thought more like 75 bucks was plenty and the buyer just pays for actual shipping .

Update .

I thought that box was funny . I looked again and found the box that the FFB2 came in . I got it from Best Buy and it's all there , the insides etc . It's light blue in color .

I looked at the other box again , it was from my first FFB gameport stick that I wore out . hehe I save alot of stuff .

airspro: I'd really love the 2nd version of the MS FF2, which has a rubberized grip and red buttons. I'm going to have another look for it, but if I can't find one I may get in touch with you. :)

The 2nd version was released without much fanfare. As far as I can tell there are no core changes besides the grip and buttons. The rubberized grip feels great, and the red buttons somehow feel more integrated with the stick than than the silver plastic ones. Same FF2, just feels like higher quality, I guess. :)
