A --------> <----------- D
Plane A Plane D. Plane A(ttacker) has lead turn in mind. Plane D(efender) is a killer.

A----\    ..............                             /D
........\                               /
..........--------->     <......./
Plane A dives, to get separation Plane D rolls and gets his guns pointed into plane A's fight path.

A-----\          ...........                   ----D
.............\      ............           *< /
.................----------/
Plane A pulls up before bogie passes, and is directly ahead as the killer pulls the trigger.

(BD note, before is when you see him in forward/up view, or even the top of forward view)

A --> ((BOOM))<--------D.

Plane A not getting a chance to do his vertical move flies straight into a hail of bullets fired just ahead of his flight path. Pilot A is shocked as he eats many rounds in his engine, canopy and face.

Plane A explodes in a fireball and D, who lands the kill later chuckles. "That was very simple! See! That is simple.

Lead Turn sucks, HO rules.  Pilot of plane D (killer) comes to BBG whining about HO.

There are many more options regarding the ho situation other than going for it...I have my own little trick i use to gain 100 percent advantage in a ho situation...but this move is dependant on opponent speed and type of aircraft they fly...

I agree there are plenty of options of getting a "skilled" kill rather then the good old "HO" shot. I wouldnt mind learning that trick minus the ones i already know. But back to the topic as for the HO shots i generally have my set rule 1st pass i dont 2nd pass well the fights been initiated so might aswell, normally i just try to avoid the HO and hope for a good shot on his 6 when hes extending or going back up, but most of the aircraft i fly dont have cannons so i just try to avoid it the best i can and if i die to a HO well 90% of everyone does it, but it does get really annyoing getting HOd from a LA to see another one IB to do the same thing. just avoid or HO i dont care i know who the good pilots are to fight :P

I don't ever take anyone else's view as 'etc.'

But I don't see how it takes 2 to ho?  It just takes 2 to merge, right?

Not all of the time.   Sometimes, absolutely; most of the time, no it doesn't take two to ho.

I agree with SkyRock's summarization.

I dont see how two planes meet head on if one choses not to.  Not counting chance of couse.

Nope ~ I don't see.  The HO refers to the head on shot ~ meaning the firing of the weapons from the head on position.  Or am I wrong? Does the HO refer to the head on flight (= the merging of the acft in head on directions)?

So you can have two planes merging head on without a HO... you can have two planes merging head on with one doing the HO... or you can have two planes merging head on with both doing the HO...  correct?

It does take two to HO, as avoiding a HO is probably one of the easiest maneuvers in the game.
