It seems no matter where I get hit in the Corsair, I am getting pilot wounds. This has only been since the new patch, but it is getting really annoying.

Also, the horizontals seem to be coming off to easily again. Maybe that could be looked at as well.

Is it limited to all Corsairs or just certain models?

It seesm to happen mostly to me in the -1D.

was in a C-Hog and got a PW twice in same place within 20 min, right side of canopy, near the back, just before the head rest.

First time, I timed the seconds before I popped, I was at 7 seconds between blackouts, then POOF ! !

Second time, I was at 13 seconds between blackouts, then POOF ! !

Granted the first time I had dove through an airfield on the deck killing the ord bunker.

Second time I was at roughly 5K going away from the airfield in a shallow dive.

Bodhi: The horizontal stabs on the F4U have ALWAYS seemed weak since I started playing. Same with the engine.

On the bright side, it appears that they've fixed the magic bullets penetrating the fuselage gas with hits to the tail.

Now if ONLY HTC would double the size of the reticle in the four bubble-tops (and the birdcage if necessary) and add the center pylon and Tiny Tims to the 1D....

You guys should really try the P38s.
You get pilot wound guaranteed if anyone shoots at you.

Even if con's below and in front of you and fires, I usually get a pilot wound. On some occasions I even lose a gun.......

Well Im glad Im not the only one who constantly gets pilot wounds lately.

In the P-38, any hit is a pilot wound, then engines

In the Typhoon, pilot wound or engine oil

P-51B, its almost always 2 guns (out of 4) go, then the pilot wound

Same with the jug, any model

I think its time to start flying with a lucky horseshow, rabbit foot, etc etc

The king of the pilot wound is the Ki-84.

Someone even sneezes at your general direction and your blood is spattered everywhere.

I agree with the horizontal stab thing too. I never fly the corsair, but when I engage one, the VAST majority of the time if I get a shot on the hog (when Bodhi is in the hog i dont get a shot) it ends up floating to earth arse first sans hor. stabs.

Bodhi why not post that pic of Lt. Donald Balch?

Oh and lepaul, you get oil leaks in the tiffie? I rarely ever get oils hits in the typhoon. It is the radiator that seems to be the weak point for me.

I tend to agree that the horizontal stabilizer seperates from the hogs very easily. Not just from the perspective of losing my own either. A few nights ago I nipped Bohdi's off several times with almost "casual" bursts from my .50's. I often shoot small bursts at planes more or less to spook them into turning with me, but not really even hoping to inflict damage. As often as not that is all it takes to remove a tail from a hog.

As a side note, I tried that against a Mossi that I know was uninjured (I asked on 200) and I removed his entire tail section and set him on fire with only 36 rounds expended from my .50's...

Maybe the .50's are over-modeled?

All planes for that matter are easy to nip stabilizers from. Maybe that's realistic? I honestly have no idea. It happens to me on a large percentage of my kills though. I aim for the cockpit/cowl area, and if my lead is off the tail falls off...

N1K2s especially seem prone to losing their horizontal stabs. I don't think it's a matter of the Deuce being over-modeled, tho.

I wonder if part of it is due to the simplified damage model. In here, either the part is gone or it isn't. More sophisticated damage models (I HATE bringing it up, but Pacific Fighters, for example) allow damage to parts that affects performance without losing it outright, so some types of aircraft can take more of a pounding than in AH (F4Us are absolute tanks in PF).
