Having some planes that can take off and land on water might be neat.

From what I've heard it's because we don't have any need for recon, we don't have submarines to drop depth charges on, and we don't have a search and rescue option.

Search for Catalina and you'll find plenty of threads on the subject.

And the 'water' in the game is just like dirt that kills you if you sit on it for too long.

The catalina took out a Japense convoy that was going to supply the Japan's on of their capture island.  It was at night, too.  They didnt have to worry about anything.  It could also carry 4 bombs.

A Blackcat Catalina would have a heck of a time trying to attack a
battlegroup here, even if we did have night.

i go for H8K "emily" , one of the best maritime sea planes ever built. it have 5x 20mm, and i think 4x 7.92mm. bombload of 2,000kg, max speed of 290mph, range is at least 2,500miles.

the game is concentrated on combat, not on shaking the screen.

Use B-17's or B-24's. Faster and when you find the CV's you get to kill them as well.

There is ZERO reason why this could not be done.
We have lvt's that go from water to land.

HTC has a boat that can go from water,to the air. "was used in a special event, like the rv-8 and santa"

Its code guys, the objects shape means nothing.
If hitech wants something to fly, all he has to do is put a little numeral by the code saying "im a plane, or a boat, or a lvt or a new type of craft"

Airplane- 1
Gv-0
water- 1
land- 0
"1 being On 0 being Off"
.ect

"Of course i dont know the exact code, but this is just my guess looking at other game code's"

Basicly, if HTC wanted too, it could be done.
The water would not need changing, the only thing is the craft would need to be made to fly, but not be able to land on the ground "without damage" and of course it would need to land on water.

Like most games tho,the largest battle would be making the model and geting everything with the flight model correct.

Sure it would be neat to add a seaplane, but for all practical resasons, it is not neccessary.

Yes it would be codeable for a seaplane.  However, for the exception of the first week and the once every month that a SEA would utilize a 'reconaissance' plane, she'll be a 'hangar queen.'  Nobody is going to fly the because their large targets, their armament for defense is no where near as capable as a b-17/24, and their loadout is poor.  Fly a B5N for a couple weeks and see why no one flys it in the Main Arena.

The amount of time it takes to skin and code a plane it is not feasible to produce a seaplane or anything similar.

there could be a reason made for scouts! say if a scout plane spots a cv it will show up on the map for 10 minutes or so and its movement could be tracked...

That's an interesting idea, but the sea-ways on the maps we play are too small I think.  Like on the TT island map you're crossing the water so frequently the only time people dont know where the CVs are is when they respawn.    If the maps were say the Marianas and was much more water than land, this would be pretty interesting to use scouts.  If we had maps like that I'd like to see fleets be at least 3 times larger with fullsize carriers and multiples of them.
