Contrails would be great to have in AH. Make the contrails a setting that you can enable if you want them or not.

If airshow smoke doesn't impact performance for your computer, I don't think contrails will do much.

Is it even possible based on a Standard Day
« Reply #20 on: June 18, 2007, 01:12:45 PM »
Contrails form when hot humid air from hot exhaust mixes with environmental air of low vapor pressure and low temperature.  I think for performance AH uses a “Standard Day”
I have no idea what the vapor pressure is associated with a Standard Day.  Could be that on a Standard Day no visible contrails exists.

As I remember a Standard day was an airtemp of 59* or 15c* and Barometric pressure of 14.7mlb.

Contrail formation - NACA 1942

This report has diagrams that appear to indicate that over northern Europe trails could form as low as 16K under the right conditions.

I think non-persistent contrails would add a lot and probably be a small performance hit. Should be able to set it up so as to be able to enable or disable them for those with less powerful systems.

Best Regards
