Will if we went to Zimbabwe to take Mugabe out of power by military force, people of the United States would say "Yeah lets help the people of Zimbabwe," then we invade, then a couple of troops die, the media makes it seem like a big deal and that it will turn into another Vietnam (or I guess a so called Iraq situation) then the people of the U.S. will be against supporting the War effort and the people of Zimbabwe. Then the President would be hated more.

Will this is what I think would happen, but I hope that if we do take out Mugabe that no one would think of it as an invasion for pro west culture in Africa, or another Vietnam type war.

time for the people to sort out their own country

Exactly.

Countries get the government they deserve (unless their government is imposed by an outside power)

Zimbabwe has got Mugabe because they elected him, and because enough of the people either support him, or aren't prepared to oppose him.

Yes it would be easy for the outside world to oust Mugabe, and put some other government in his place.

Zimbabwe would still be Zimbabwe, though, and in another decade or so they would have someone else like Mugabe ruling them.

Time to let the people of Zimbabwe accept the consequences of choosing their own government.

why does america have to INVADE everyone? you could just remove him so that the people can vote freely. that way they aren't oppressed by mugabe or the americans...

nashwan, the people didn't choose him, he is the only person they can vote for! he destroys opposing parties or rigs elections. most of zimbabwe want's rid of him, but they'll be killed or tortured by the secret police if they stand against him (most of the secret police hate him too, but are scared of being killed for deserting)

Lets just stay out and let AIDS and drought kill them all off, then we can repopulate with white people.

Seriously, every time a white lead nation has revereted to black leadership, the nation went downhill very fast.  Results are starvation, rouge militias, human attrocities and mass murder.   Danged if I can see why the blacks are anxious to experience that.

In Somalia, aid workers with military help tried to feed the people and give them the basic necessities to live.  What was the result?  They took up arms to protect their warlords who starved and killed them, and in doing so drove away the help they needed.

People that stupid deserve to die, and the earth is a better place for it.

How about YOU remove him? It's about time all the people *****ing and whining about how the U.S. does things just step up and do it your damned selves. Let's see how YOU do it. I want to watch, and see how well you do. THEN you can ***** about how someone else does it.

And one more thing. How the Hell do you expect to just "remove" him and have things change? Evidently you lack the basic fundamental understanding of how reality works. Because you can't remove ONE man and change everything. How the Hell do you think the ONE man came to be in control?

i'd bloody love to...

the US in general seem to think they will solve violence with being violent. this is one guy who kills, tortures or banishes anyone who opposes him. no one can stand up to him, but most of them hate him. the answer, remove him from office. you don't need to bomb the place or occupy the country.

israel have been the same in lebanon. hezbollah was once a freedom force that welcomed the israelis as liberators, but israels violence and brutal foreign policy made them turn against them.

i personally think that the USA's ideas on foreign policy have been awful in the last few decades. just my opinion, but there is a reason a lot of the east hates america, because america seems to hate them...

Yes, but a glitch has arose in the proceedings. It seems that they can`t agree on the place or the time, structure of the meeting table or ........who`s day in the barrel it is to be held on.

I have yet to see a violent dictator be successfully dealt with by any means other than violence. Further, the guy doesn't hold power BY HIMSELF. So, short of KILLING him AND his ASSOCIATES, exactly how do you propose to remove him?

You don't deal with violent people by talking to them or by kissing their ass. You KILL them. Yeah, it's that simple.

I agree. Zimbabwe should have stayed part of the British Empire and continued to be the only net exported of food on the whole African continent.

Strange hearing Americans agreeing that the British Empire was a force for good.

The British Empire was a force for selfish expansionism, but any white administration is going to be better than black self-rule in Africa.  The French proved it, as did the Dutch.
