Gotta use the Spitfire VIII for that one Shifty.  Vs woulda been gone by that point from the front lines I believe.

Plus the VIIIs have the skins to go with em for the PTO

Spit VIII and Ki 84 are a proper match up

Spit VIII royally owns the Ki 84 @ climb.

But there's a catch...

- Spit8 has max wep limit of 5 minutes, after that you wait for 10 mins to cool down so it can be used again
- Spit VIII is a short range fighter

- Ki-84 has max wep (or overboost) for 70 seconds (is that right?), after that you wait for 30 secs to cool down so it can be used again.
- Ki 84 was designed as a long range fighter.  Range is similar to that of P-51 (is that right?)

Thanks for info Dan. I actually gave away my Spitfire book a few months back, and couldn't find the correct model info. I appreciate everyones input, and suggestions.

Shifty, I already had Rain of Fire in the can, and I've been out of town, so I ran that this week.  If someone doesn't do it before then, I'll run your setup the next time I'm up.

Yeah, one of the main points of putting the Spit VIII in the Spit lineup was for far east ops.  No Spit IX or XVI ever served in the far east.  Spits V, VIII and XIV did though.  XIVs in 1945 only.

Diggit.  I have to run Oldboy back to West Point on Monday, but I might be home in time to make a flight or two.

Clash of Empires 1944 Burma.

Japan's last major offensive in mainland Asia. Imperial Japanese Army units thrust towards Assam in the Northwest. While Imperial Japanese Army Air Force pilots attacked airfields being used to fly missions across the hump. One attack against a British airbase code named "Broadway", the base was destroyed along with most of the RAF fighters based there.

By June 1944 with the town of Imphal close to surrender, elements of the 14th Army managed to break through the Japanese perimeter forcing a withdrawl of the Japanese units. Within days of the begining of the withdrawl, RAF Mosquito, Hurricane, Spitfire, and Thunderbolt units began a year long operation to destroy Japanese army units in Burma.

Map- China or CM's Choice.

Royal Air Force Aircraft

HurriIIc
SpitV
P-47D-25
Mossie

Imperial Japanese Army Air Force Aircraft

A6M5= Ki-43III sub
Ki-61
Ki-84
Ki-67

Ground units M-3 and M-8s for both sides.

Arena Settings CM's call.

Yes please.  SpitV vs 0s is a blast.  Especialy when you blast the 0s off the sky :D

dedalos,

No Spit Vs.  They were withdrawn from frontline service by that time.  Spit VIIIs instead.

They're getting soft, it's this whole Iraq thing I think.  He's home now, beat me in pool already, has lots of stories, life is good for at least the next couple of days.  Will pass your greetings along, may even get him online this weekend.
