Basic Map Ingredients
« on: July 06, 2007, 11:33:30 AM »
In an effort to help the production of new "approvable" maps, is there?/can there be?.... a current list of map requirements for a map to be accepted by HTC and to then actually be placed in LWA rotation?

I have seen & heard of several maps being made that I expected to be playing on by now, and still no sign of them. From what I hear, they didnt make it through HTC approval process.

I'm sure that was very discouraging to the respective map creators. Perhaps the above mentioned list will help potential new map makers, clearly we need any/all help we can get regarding the creation of new maps.

or HTC might wait until the fuss dies down and people have forgotten and submit them as their "own" work!

i would suggest checking out the terrain editor forum. the topics in there are far more pertinent than anything you might find in the general discussion.

Well seeing as you didn't add any smilie faces or such, are we to believe this it something you really believe? If not, no need to read further...... but if you do believe that, it has to be one of the most stupid statements I've ever seen posted on these boards, and there have been a bunch of them.

HTC has been nothing but honest and above board on everything they have done and do with their company. Yes there view and decisions have been tilted toward their side, but it is their bussiness, and they have that right to control there own company.

They are out to make money by suppling a product to the public. Unfortunately for "many" the game can not be taylored to their "perfect little world", too bad. Either enjoy the game, and the changes that have come, and will continue to come, or don't and go try something else. Accusing them of "stealling" someone else map design is just stupid.

I don't know which maps were deleted from the rotation..or their sizes. Were they all 512 miles x 512 miles?

I heard they only want maps that are 256 miles x 256 miles.

Well I can see why Mindanao was taken out.

Though it was a very nice looking map, it wasn't proportionally sized for 3 Teams.

Sticky #2 in TERRAIN EDITOR. Thnx for the cross ref.

Maybe we need a map making contest, and the winner gets a  job working for HTC making maps:D.  Share the wealth!

I didn't care about that because

- each team had it's turn to get "reset corner"
- the topography was nice
- other maps still in rotation have a similar glitch,  especially "sfma" (also known as Lake Vulva"), where usually the southern country get's banged because of the starting base distributions.

Not every post which isnt serious needs smilies :)

Then again not every post that is serious doesn't need smilies either.
