iMac
« on: July 06, 2007, 02:29:00 PM »
I have a 20" iMac with Core 2 Duo processors and a Radeon X1600 card. I use Bootcamp to run Windows. The Windows install has been updated with all the standard Windows updates (via AutoUpdate) as well as the Omega drivers for Radeon cards (WW2OL is otherwise upside-down). When I installed AH, I found I had the spinning clipboard page problem. I read a bunch of posts with various pieces of advice. I downloaded the optional HotFix Windows Update and this cured the problem. I've set the graphics to various values, and it looks just great. I did not turn off a core, change compatibility mode, or edit files. I just installed the HotFix.

Most excellent, I have the same iMac at my house (running the Omega Drivers as well) and I had the spinning clipboard of doom. Your tip worked like a charm. Now my wife and I can play at the same time... (although it's yet to be seen just how much she'll get into it!)

Thanks, (I know this thread is over a year old, but it helped me - just the same)
Tim

The hotfix will work on most dual core Intel systems, but not all.  Glad to hear it fixed yours!

Guys, let me know if your system does a hard lock while playing with a repeating sound loop.

Thanks,

That type of problem is almost always a resource related one.  Such as using custom sounds that the onboard sound chips cannot play due to hardware constraints.  Texture sizes too large.  Some type of excess swap activity due to other resources filling memory.
