Back at your bunch Storch. I've always thought the one two punch of 109s and 190s working together would be awesome........ It was.

Well, between my neighbor's getting into a fight and my wife wanting me to do something about it I could only get one flight in.  Was like old times hearing the banter on the squad channel and very little smack in the text buffer.  Wish I could have stayed longer!

this setup was pretty much tailor made for a fight between squads such as ours.  giving credit where credit is due I learned the 109/190 one two punch from you, LoweJG ;)  and yes it still seems to work ok.

It was all exciting fights to the East. You really had to be on your toes, if you were in a  good spot to saddle up on a 109 or 190, there were usually at least two 190s prowling around the edge of fight where you had to keep looking over your shoulder. A proper tactic IMO.

The worst part was when I'd hear "Shifty 190 dropping on you", and I could not get a visual on him. I'd twist and turn and wait for the bang on my airframe. Sometimes I wouldn't see him until he passed, or I wouldn't see anything until I woke up in the tower.

At one point I found myself really low and under the fight, I tried to climb out west and come back. Sure enough a lone 190 is perched above me and to my 6. He starts his run, I keep hoping he'll follow me through a turn to bleed off his E. I managed to evade three or four passes. The next to last one he made I ended up blowing all my E. I'm thinking cmon pal do something stupid so I can get out of this mess!!!

It was Kong and he refused to make a mistake. It must have been obvious on his last run he had me. He came in real shallow and just kinda eased up and blew me away. :lol

I think this is one of the better plane matchups in the AVA. It seems to highlite each planes strengths, weakness' and makes better cartoon pilots out of all of us. I also appreciate the JG54 guys not CAPin our CV in the East. Allowing us to get up and into the fight.

I got dropped on by Hand in a 190 out of the sun.  I have to say that it was about the most perfectly executed drop I've seen (well, not seen...experienced) yet.  Somehow he was able to keep himself in the sun perfectly until I was getting pinged.  I checked six a couple times and never saw him.

I got pissy near the end as I was repeatedly picked while fighting down low in a 190 in the CV ack but I would say that the fights were just excellent for about one hour prior to that with each team capitaizing on the relative strengths of their equipment and obviously communicating well with each member of the team.  since we as a squad have been away from the AvA and with the relative ease of killing in the MAs our skills were really not up to par last night but all in all I think both squads aquitted themselves well so a heartfelt is in order.

Our strategy (such as it were):

we calculated you guys would be at 15k or better (duh).  I came in at 15k dove to 12k and zoomed up into a furball as the 109s bled you guys E.  TK and I in 190s dove in for the picks.  it was I believe 3 109s and three 190s IIRC KONG was a 109 most of the night but the only squad sortie was the first one.

allow me to interject here that the combination of the F4U as high cover with the F6F as the furballer is a mirror to the 190/109 combination with the added benefit of a stouter airframe and better weaponry.

rematch on thursday?

LOL that is  funny. I've already touched on that subject with the squadron about the F6/F4U combo. We've been flying  MA only the last two weeks trying to learn the F6F to hopefully make it our signature plane. I know there were a couple of other guys in the immdediate area that were not 880 Sqn guys. I didn't pay attention to what they were flying. I do know once Warloc from 880 Squadron showed up in the F4U, just having that  one Corsair around seemed to distract the 190s enough that it allowed us in the F6Fs to breath a bit easier. Not that the 109s were easy, they were a freaking menace in their own right. It just allowed us to concentrate more on just them.

I've already put the request in to fly AVA again Thursday. I'll post as soon as I hear from the squadron.

ya the fight between all four of these rides will be determined by player skill and luck, not by the aircraft itself.  there is no clear winner designwise.

My apologies Shifty, I'm well known for doing-something-stupid and would normally be foolishly aggressive. :D

I don't fly 190s a lot so I was being cautious. I switched to the 190 because those blue planes are tanks and the single pop/mgs on the 109 were frustratingly impotent.

Great furball over the water, salute all. Have to say I kept looking at the map and wondering - who are the dweebs capping 41 and who are the numskulls who keep upping from there. Hey, to each his own.
