109 Bounced by a pony/Jug etc at alt

More of a question in relation to first inital steps here guys:
Your in  a 109 at around 20-23k or whatever, Pony or Jug pops up on your 6 from around 3-4k sometimes coalt and sometimes with a slight alt advantage.
What's the first thing/s that you should be doing thinking about?

my first thought would be "How the heck did I get this high ????" :D

Up there they have the advantages all sewn up. I'd dive out trying keep the spacing the same, and once I dropped to the 10k area I'd start letting them close in, and then the fun would begin  :)

Lets run with a K4 for this scenario. I've found myself in this situation a few times, I go wep and get myself a good separtion, but my downfall is knowing what to do next, So there I am, a good 3-4k D on them but I'm worried about what sort of manouver to do next as I don't want to end up doing 200mph with them 200d on my 6.

It depends entirely on the situation. With 3-4K I'd turn around to engage them. They may have larger wings and better flaps but you've got more horsepower and much better rate of climb. I'd use the vertical when ever possible at that alt (i.e. don't just turn, do a climbing turn then come around nose low to regain speed).

How the rest of the fight goes? Too hard to say, but basically I'd think first of a loop or zoom after the merge and then repositioning if possible for a snapshot.

That's if I'm in a K-4.

I'll be thinking about what I'll be doing after the 60 seconds required to kill him....

one option..
let'em close and within 1.5k out start flat lazy turn.gradually getting tighter as he closes hopefully full throttle...just staying ahead the bullets angle.about 600 to 400' feet out chop throttle, opposite rudder pulling hard with eye out 6 keeping eye on bog'.as he over shoots you pull the  "S" turn ..throw the coal to the buner raise flaps ...viola! your seeing nothing but tail  lights.

pray that im not in the pony :p

but really when its a k4 v p51 matchup the ponys gonna need a advantage to win most of the time considering if the fight occurs anywhere above 5k the k4 outclassses the mustang.  make the mustang bleed his E then when he is slower and coalt use your superior speed and acceleration and instant zoom to kill him.  FYI ive run the situation with agent360 many times in both the ma and da. and it seems that the k4 pilot has a slight advantage at co alt co e and if you can make those taters hit :P

As I see it, the problem with this thread is that almost everyone is concentrating on solutions for survival.

What you should be thinking about is, "How am I going to kill this guy?"

This is a fundamental mindset change for the majority of the people who fly Aces High. Ignoring the gamers who don't care if they die (as if they really had any choice anyway), most players think too much about what the enemy is going to do you them, rather than think about what they intend to do to the enemy.

id say force them into as quick as turn possiable then climb with your 109 . try to keep the alt adv .  if you dive bolth of those planes can catch you easily.
if either of those planes is still heavy fuel you have the adv right then and there .

Make them fight your fight .

Lo yoyo to the left get below him, punch the wep and hi yoyo to the right on the merge then use your climb rate to stay above him.  He'll either fight you and die, get slow and wallow and dive to the deck ( you can pursue) or the very smart one will shallow climb and extend to reengage you if you try to pursue once they have  a decided alt & E advantage.
