I remember wishing I was 18. Trust me on this one. 18 is overrated. With more age comes more responsibility,  a lot more will be expected of you and you have to start providing for yourself. 17 is the ideal age.

Yes, but certain things become legal at the age of 18. (NO, folks, its not what youre thinking!) THAT makes 18 in particular appealing. I can move out anytime now, god knows my parents wouldnt mind emancipating me, but... yeah, there are some things you cannot get a waiver for.

Age restrictions on the use of alcohol? Ever think that maybe that is not such a bad thing? It is easy to overdo alcohol, it kind of creeps up on you without you noticing it. Most alcoholics are "unintentional alcoholics" than not. Most people don't set out to be that way. Is it worth running the risk? One drink won't make you an alcoholic but it is the start. All vices, habits, or addictions start with just "one".

Ive had alcohol. I hate it. Its always readily available at my house, and being a typical curious kid, ive tried it, and hated it. I refuse to touch the stuff, because I hate the taste, and the effects, both mental and physical. And age for alcohol is 21, not 18. No, its nothing bad, in fact, most people think what im waiting for is quite sweet.

Give alcohol time, you'll come around.

FWIW the age of consent in Hawaii is 16...
