Fellas is there any way to make it clear on what secondary objectives we are able to hit if the primary target is destroyed?

During Fridays frame, I had this problem that came up, and after asking a few times I just made my own secondary objectives. I was still unsure what we could hit that would count and what didnt count.

I had to divert one flight of bombers 6 grids south. I wish this could have been avoided, and a closer target could have been hit.

I guess what I'm asking is what is fair play to destroy if primary objectives are met?

Well, There's a really good chance that the person(s) who knows wouldn't have read the message boards on a Saturday evening in the 2 hour window you allowed.

From the admin CM standpoint, there really are no secondary targets. All valid targets we define in the objectives are what will be scored. These targets MUST be attacked within the first hour by the attacking side and they MUST be defended by the defending side.

If the CiC feels the need to define targets as 'secondary', it would be as follow up attacks after the primary target has been attacked ( as you described ). As with the orders they create, such assignments would be up to the CiC, so any given frame can have any different approaches to the concept of secondary targets.

It's not up to defining rules concerning secondary targets, for as far as the Admin CMs are concerned, as long as the CiC follows the rules to attack and defend, how they go about achieving it is up to them ( unless specifically restricted in the objectives )

Not sure if that clears things up any. Sounds like you were looking for something to give your troops to do and didn't get an answer. Sorry that happened, but there will be times when communications are completely missed or people just don't have answers.

Drone pretty much nailed it.
Each side is given specific objectives/targets. Those are the only ones worth points. If sides were allowed to attack other targets of opportunity that were not listed in the objectives, then everyone would scatter to the wind and straff, bomb, rocket down everything in site. Action for all involved would be pretty minimal with planes all over the map.

In the past some Admin CM’s have given targets more value than others. Some times it has worked, other times not. What has tended to happen was very large numbers over the primary targets, (those worth the most points) and small squads of 2-4 pilots attacking and defending the secondary targets, (worth less points).

Another option that has worked many times in the past was to allow the supply trains or truck convoys that supply fields that are being attacked to be a target of opportunity. The attackers have the option to destroy those also or not worry about them at all. Sort of bonus points if they get them, but not worth the loss of several aircraft. The trick was to only allow them to be killed once. Since they re-supply multiple times in an hour that would give the attackers multiple times to kill the same target.

In a nut shell you can only attack the targets listed by the Admin CM. Anything else is a waste to time and ordnance.

Basically correct, The objectives list all of the targets that a side is going to get points for. If you decide to hit other targets, don't expect to get any points for them. As a rule when all objectives are met, then it is time to go hunting for fighters. If you are a bomber pilot, then your night may be over with, unless you want to clean up any left overs at your objectives. Like fuel, ammo, troops, ACK guns, so on.

But considering the point value for bombers, you have to weigh this carefully.

Cool thanks fellas for putting that in the right light. I can understand where this comes from, with everyone scattering. Now when you demo the field is the town attached to it also worth points?

If stated so in the objectives, then yes, if not I would say no. If you have doubts about something like that, always contact the Admin CM and ask.

Only if they say the town is part of the target.

Generally they list just a field and not the town associated with it. Then again they might list the town and not the field. I have seen this several times. Also I have seen just specific objects on a field listed. For example you might see an order to destroy the Fighter and Bomber hangers only. Even the tower can be listed as a target, but the CM's would have to reduce its hardness by 90% or so.

In a way listing specific targets on a field it easier to score. If the fighter and bomber hangers are worth 60 points each then you give the points for each one destroyed, (would be nice if we could score "damaged" objects, but that is not possible

). But if you just say destroy 100% of the field, what % would be the radar, ack, hanger be? That can make scoring ticklish.

68KO actually came up with a value for every object on a field which was something I used the last few times I was an Admin CM and solved a lot of scoring problems. At least it did for me.

I tend to over explain. At least that is what I hear from my students sometimes.

I stated in the Orders the question of hitting targets not designated:

Note:
▸   All Targets must be initially Attacked and Defended within the First Hour.
▸   Aircraft Minimums and Maximums must be used or penalties will be incurred.
▸   Each side must utilize at least 7 different AC types per frame
▸   Only the German jets and higher end Allied planes will be limited as noted.
▸   The P-47N is a substitute for the P-47M which saw service at this time of the war.
▸   There are no Air Starts in this terrain.
▸   Formations for ALL Bombers will be Enabled.
▸   Only Convoys and Trains specified in the objectives may be attacked.
▸   Points will not be rewarded for unspecified objects destroyed.
