What is the big gripe against HOs, it's not like you absolutely have to accept one, is all you have to do is decline by maneuver.  It seems to me only the loser is going to complain and yet it was a choice.

Maneuver just enough to avoid their guns, then spray them. You get a kill from a front quarter shot, they get a new plane, and no one gets HOed. Everybody wins!

Not every Head On is able to be avoided and I think most rational players know that.  What most complain about are those that only maneuver for the Head On shot at the expense of all other, more viable tactics.

If the only thing you have is the Head On, then I highly recommend you seek the services of a trainer or take the time to read some of the excellent books out there that explain the concept of air combat maneuvering and how to best employ these maneuvers.

Problem is, some planes have the capability to instantly turn a high rear-quarter or full-plane shot into a HO (Hurricane IIC and N1K2 come to mind).
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

Very, Very seldom,  in fact almost so rare as to be nonexistant are you locked into a HO without an option, if you see it coming then you can do something about it.

As for the Hurricane, that is its best defense against an LA-7 in my book, everytime he tries to make a swipe at you turn and give him a head on, the LA doesn't stand much against the four cannon Hurri.

Also if a guy tries only for the HO at the expense of everything else then I say he is CANNON FODDER,  he won't last long and I don't care if that is his choice of maneuver, I can avoid it.

When they miss their ho though, I see many try to ram your plane probably knowing they will lose if it got into a 1v1.
