Classy or outta ammo?
« on: August 19, 2007, 02:06:18 PM »
Flyin in one of the LW arenas the other night, and got in a pretty good turn fight with a f4 of some sort.

We started at aprox.12k and of course wound up on the deck.

The fight lasted quite a while, with neither of us able to get much of a resolution on the other.

Well, he finally kills my engine.

I head away, drop my gear and prepare to ditch.

Never thought I,d even make it to the ground without getting blasted.

Well, I made it to a complete stop.

I knew I was a sitting duck, but I waited anyway.

I can hear his engine getting louder and louder coming in low behind me.

I prepared for the inevitable.

It didn,t happen.

He flew REAL low and REAL slow over me and waved his wings instead.

I watched on radar as he headed to the nearest furball.

Classiest thing I have ever seen in this game.

Never found out who he was. (but i,m bettin it wasn,t Storch)

But I would like to salute him and that style of play now!!

I had a Spit XVI pilot do that after a long fight in which he holed the oil on my Spit VIII.  When it finally seized I ditched and he just circled, waggled his wings and flew off.  It was a long fight and I'd started out of cannon ammo.  We'd each reversed eachother a couple of times, but he wasn't getting hits other than the one and my .303s didn't score much and to no effect.

This was along time ago though, just after the VIII and XVI had been added.

I think there are a fair amount of folks who will let a deadstick guy try and get it down.

If ya were in the Lghey I'd have shot ya. Other planes warrant better treatment of prisoners:aok (lastly the odd awarding of safe ditches far from home base, hard to predict outcome there)

I do that all the time if the fight is clean, however if I'da known it was you, not a chance.

it was part of my under than five sentences but none the less censored sig line.

but it wasn't me on that occasion I haven't had a close fight in weeks

I wouldn,t expect you to do that Storch.

Especially after all the mean things I,ve said and done to you.

Good to hear from you again.

Some guy in a 190D9 did the same for me the other night.  I was shot up pretty good in a Tiffy and he just flew by as I ditched.

I do this all the time to people who are missing half a wing. If they fly nice and straight and accept the fact that they're going to die, I pull up beside them, give them a salute, and fly away. Of course sometimes they try to turn behind me to kill me. That's when I kill them. :D

I quiet often do this myself, think I had 2 or 3 of these type fights in the last week or 2......the fight is what some people are after not a wounded bird that can not defend itself...where is the fun in that?.....but I also been going to bed most nights for last cple of weeks watching Flyboys alot as well..........could be why I have been doing this and not killing the ditching planes.....

if u was in the LWA prob was not me though..think I have not flown in the LWA since last tour , only in the AvsA /TA/DA/SEA arenas as of late........

I say it was classy of  your opponent, Boner!
