Mine: if I ever got to be a good enough shot, I wanted you to know that you got shot down by a girl.  But I put 'Mom' in there to make sure that I didn't get the usual obnoxious comments.

I, being drunk and hungry, ate about 4-5 bowls and the sissy SoCal kids were repulsed so they made a pizza. After that they started calling me Grits and the nickname stuck. When I joined AW in '93 I chose Grits because it was a real nickname and I couldnt think of anything better so I have used it ever since.

I love grits!  Butter, salt, pepper, and Ham!!!!!!!!!!!!

In '95, I was the equivalent of a # guy in AW, and FA229 asked me to join RAF229th, but I would have to put 229 at end of cpid,,,JC229 (my initials) wouldn't take for some reason, so I did BJ --first part of email addy bjjud---jud being my name, bj being the Shrew's initials (Barbara Jean, odd name for mouthy chick from Foxboro, Mass:) ) REALLY didn't think of the implications of those 2 letters, , but it's been my name for 12 years, and I'd hate for friends to lose track of me

Yup, and some cheese. Too many first time grits eaters try to think of it like oatmeal (a shades name I have used in the past) and put sugar, but it really is better with salt, pepper, cheese and some kind of meat like ham or sausage.

Bro, I am getting hungry just talking about it.  Ham, slightly browned, grits, not to thick yet not to thin(spiced with salt, pepper, and cheese), with an over easy egg and a pat of butter melted over a piece of perfect toast with strawberry jam!  YUM YUM!:aok

PS  what part of the south are you from by the way?

Renegade here. Problem was back when I began flying there was no vox. Most guys call signs were 2,3 or 4 letters long. Everything was typed. Anyone who had a long call sign had it auto-shortened by the message sender for expediency. Mine stuck.

Lessee some other shortened call signs were Grey Eagle = GE, SharkBait = SB, PizzaFace was shortened to Pizza. There were lots like that.
