Just an update:
First, this is the very first time I've ever had "Blue screen of death" since Windows 3.1 dating back to roughly 1994-85. I've been fortunate enough (or damn lucky) of never having a virus or spyware loaded on my computers over the years. PC-cillian worked as it should, detecting the intrusion perfectly(Brave Sentry spyware). Unfortunately I didn't have the spyware-deletion part of the PC-cillian, and I shall purchase that as well now.
Okay, that said, Brave Sentry was loaded on my machine without my consent after clicking a pool builders link to a local contractor. I've yet to chew their tulips out but that's coming.
After seeing BS loaded, I attempted to do a restore to a previous date (would this have taken care of the BS loaded? I don't know, maybe you can tell me?)
After my computer appeared to be shutting down for about 45 min, I decided to cold boot it. Big mistake. That's when the "memory parity" error began. I looked for my back up CD, but could not find it (turns out I had put it in a safer spot, like my external hard drive! doh!) So I did a Windoze Restore (thanks AKIron) and was able to get back into my system with safe mode, transferred some recent files to my external hard drive (I do back ups every week, so there were not that many) and then I formatted, reloaded everything. I'm almost back to normal, just have a few more drivers to load.
rpm, that was pretty damn funny!
