Slightly wonky text - graphics card??? 8800GTX

Hi,

I've noticed that when I view a page of text, all lines are sloping, left to right, very slightly. The text can also be a little uneven in places. I don't think it's the monitor, as it does the same on another monitor. Does this mean that the graphics card is at fault? I've got a 8800 GTX with latest drivers.

Any help much appreciated.

I was wondering if there was some kind of nVidia option that might sort things out - new to this. Maybe I've got unrealistic expectations - anyone else have/had a similar problem?

ive got a 8800 gts and no problems with ah2. i find though most problems i do have with older games are down to the drivers.

which version driver are you using? and which OS?

latest is 162.18  WHQL

or

163.71 beta driver

also try a diffrent screen resolution and refresh rate. you might have the settings that your monitor/card dosent like.

I'd been using 162.18. I tried the 163.71 beta driver and it sorted it out. Now using the the 163.71 WHQL version which has just been released.

Thinking about it, I had (perhaps foolishly) updated Direct X to the latest version on the Microsoft site, and maybe that had something to do with. Still can't believe that a certified driver would do that, but 'all's well that ends well'.

Try connecting the monitor with the DVI cable. I often see such things on analog monitors. IMHO it's pretty stupid to buy a $500 videocard and save $10 on a monitor model without DVI input, but I have never seen a pre-built system here in Moscow with DVI connection

You can also play with refresh frequency to minimize this effect. Try setting 75Hz or maybe even higher and look what happens.

Well. read that you solved the problem. Interesting, will try it myself on Nvidia boards.
