Steve Vai rocks, but to me, Jimmi Hendrix is better. I love his Machine Gun solo better. Hendrix is sloppier but also came out in a different time and was way more creative. Guitar players don't do much different from what they have been doing, Vai is no different although he is very good. One of the best. However creative players like Hendrix will always think wider and always be on the forefront and people like Vai will be on their path.

That brings back some memories. I had that dubbed on to a cassette tape with a bunch of other guitar solos like 20 years ago.

Ya know, if he pressed harder on the strings - just hard enough to get them in contact with the frets he might actually, some day, with a little luck, actually get a sound similar to the sound a guitarist produces. Then if he learned a song or two he could claim to be a musician.
If I'd actually paid money to sit down at this somebody would get an earful.
