I almost always fly the LA-5/7.  But I am really thinking about a different plane, now I don't like to hop back and forth to different planes, I like to stick to one.  The LA doesn't work well as a fighter bomber because of a lack of ord so I am trying to decide btween the Corsair, Hellcat, and P-38 Lighting.  Any recomendations.

My Preference out of them 3 would be the P38.

my recomendation would be to fly them all. Its the only way your truly going to learn how to fight them all.

the hellcat is a simple plane for me, i find that the 38 and corsair are a little hard to fly to the max potential. i would think the question you should ask is what are you looking for in your next plane? you want a challenging plane to fly? and what flying style are you more likely to use?

for me, how i fly a plane is more important than what plane i fly.

Hop each plane and fly a few sorties, then decide. Nobody can really tell you what to fly at this point.

What Morph said.

Since you are used to a fast plane, and probably more familiar with energy type fighting, consider the F4U family. Once you get comfortable with one of them (prob the F4U-1A to start), there are only differences in degree from one to the next (ie one is a bit faster, one carries more fuel and so is heavier, etc) . The crossover means that you have a familiar corsair in EW, MW, and LW arenas; you have planes for almost every ENY situation; you have carrier availability and fighter bomber versions; and you have several perk planes including the consensus choice for best prop plane in the game.

And learning the corsair will give you real ACM experience. The F4Us are wonderful at the rollilng scissor, and once flaps go down they dont turn too badly at all. But, they are heavy and take a while to get up to speed -- so if you slow her down, plan on killing everything there or dying!

The P38 is also mostly energy fighter, and it has great guns right there in the nose. It excells in the vertical -- but while many masters love it, it takes a while to learn well and is easy to fly badly. If you DO fly it badly, it is a very, very big target.

Agreeing that you need to fly them all I'd offer the F6F as the easiest transition. The hog and 38 are both exceptional when flown to there full potential. It's a bit easier to get more out of the F6F which is "uber" in its own right...

I assume you are not looking for a chalenge and you are just asking for what is the best plane of the 3 mentioned.  If thats the case, go with the F4U-1D or C

From what you say about ords I would rule out the P38 for just 2 reasons.  In AH it is very prone to pilot wounds and engine hits off of field ack.  Bad enough losing 1 engine but the PW is a real blighter.  If you do use it in a jabo role make sure someone else has gotten the ack :)

The F6f is excellent and is my personal favourite of the 3 you mention. It climbs marginally a little better than the F4 with ords on board.  However, it may not be your cup of tea if you prefer speed.

The F4d is very versatile when we talk of ords.  Just give yourself some climbing space.  It to is an excellent fighter but as previously mentioned, be absolutely sure as to when to get it slow.  It does need some winding up.

I'm prone to getting into a furball, deffinatly more interested in climb rate and acceleration than I am in top speed.  I have had a little luck in the F6F as it is what I will usually take off of a carrier.  If the LA had more gas and carried some ord I would stick with it, but the way it is you are limited.  Also I am deffinatly interested in a challenge or else I would be playing in a simulator against the computer and not other people.

I have tried the F4U-1C and it seems to be really heavy and unmanueverable.  I wouldn't mind a challenge.  I guess my question would be which has the most versatility and potential, not what would be best right off the bat.

F4u-1A, it's a great plane. if furballing is your type of thing it's a lot of fun.

i personally think it's miles ahead of the other hogs, even the -4

when flown correctly, F4U's are some of the best manuvering planes in the game in my opinion.
