I have found that using Track Ir gives me a very limited rear view in F4U's when compared to standard HAT views.
The reason for this is that, when looking to the rear, I just can't push my virtual head back far enough. The maximum distance between viewpoint and headrest is much larger in hatview than in TIR views.
This results in following problem:
Standard hatview, max distance between head & headrest:

The same with TIR:

This seems to be a limitation within AH, not the TIR hard or software.
I did only test a few planes yet. So far only F4U's seem to be affected, but the disadvantage is tremendous in that very case.
EDIT: Yes, I know it's wrong, but I can't change thread title from "vield" to "field" anymore
