Strange Inverter Problem
« on: October 22, 2007, 05:57:45 PM »
I had a customer come in today with a Dell Vostro 1000 laptop.  He bought the computer and our inverter (Tripp-Lite PV150 150 watts) at the same time.  Whenever he has the inverter plugged into the laptop, he is unable to control the cursor using the mouse touchpad, the cursor literally jumps around with ADHD.  And when he uses a co-workers inverter (different brand) he has no problems

First thought was, possibly the wattage output of the inverter was dying out and by some electricity magic it was affecting the touchpad (the computer runs fine with the inverter, just touchpad problems, hooking up a mouse to the laptop yields no problems).  So we tried a new one out of the box... same thing.

Googling resulted nothing.  Just curious if anyone has any thoughts on this before we contact Tripp-Lite tomorrow.  Only thing I can think of is some frequecy emitted by the inverter (a good 5 feet away) is interfering somehow.
