God, that Gilmour tone...

Dave's been in my top 5 as a player for well over 20 years now.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; Gilmour never plays a bad note.  Ever.

Floyd is all about the story. The story isn't about dope, it's about the musician and the music.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.

Play the entire "Dark Side of the Moon" with the "Wizard of Oz" movie.. start the music after the MGM Lion roars the second time.

That is awesome.

the music PF plays is so technically demanding, played with such precision that it became evident to me from early on that there were no drugs involved.  it would be as if a person were performing eye surgery, not much of a chance of it happening with an impaired surgical team.

The dopers I was referring to in that initial post aren't the musicians ~ it was the listeners that I was talking about.

huh? You don't think someone could become so good at something that they could do it toasted?
pretty sure there were/are drugs in the PF camp - if for nothing more than "marketing research" on their customers :)

The stories about founder Syd Barrett permanantly losing touch with reality after using LSD is legendary.  All the members of the band were/are proponents of the use of soft drugs (pot, etc).  However, dismissing PF because of their drug use is like refusing to listen to Elton John because he is gay.

My buddy, who is also an avid Floyd fan, and myself have this running saying bout Pink Floyd.

Once in every great while, God grants and individual or select group of individuals the ablilty to make perfect music. Pink Floyd is perfect music. Comfortably Numb is a perfect song. There are others who come close, but none can touch them.

Any of you other Floyd fans read Soucerful of Secrets, The Pink Floyd Odyssey?

Good read if ya havent.

I don't blink twice about dismissing those who have a lifestyle that I can't encourage my own children to follow.  'Good' music isn't my own personal priority at any time.  Snotty? Sure, it's probably snotty.  Worth it?  I guess that's all a matter of opinion.
