The votes are in and VMF-251 has chosen to honor one of its members for particularly conspicuous merit during action against the enemy in Okinawa: The Final Battle.
For his actions in saving CV-2 from almost certain destruction through repeated waves of enemy bomber and torpedo attacks, but still maintaining a stable landing platform for returning allied aircraft running critically low on fuel while under enemy fire, Buccaneers Executive Officer MEF4UD has been so honored by his squadron mates for his masterful command of the Task Force during Frame 2: Operation Hermit Crab, and has been duly awarded the squadron's current highest decoration.
