I think that you may be wrong?  that is not an AK-47, its a Mac90, an AK-47 lookalike, same round 7.62.

I could be wrong of course, seeings how they are not my guns but thats what it looks like to me, I used to have two of those with 8 30 mag clips and two 75 round drums, and an SKS.
ether way though they are great guns.

They would actually be; SAR-1 (Romanian variant of the AK47/7.62x39), Ruger Mini-30 (7.62x39), CETME (Spanish predecessor of the HK-91/G3), and last but not least Yugoslavian M59/66 (Yugoslavian variant of the SKS)

The web says its at the Tennessee Museum of Aviation, but it could be mistaken.
Treize (pronounced 'trays')- because 'Treisprezece' is too long and even harder to pronounce.

You are correct, I have a picture of me in front of the same exact plane that my son took while we were on vacation in Tenn. during Easter break this year.

Has the SAR 1 been refinished etc?  They were the cheaper end of the AK crowd.  My son's first was an SAR=1 that he had refinished, new fire control group added, better wood and it still was rough compared to his Krebs Custom AK74.  He later had a Polish kit built into an underfolder AK that's a beauty.  The 74 is the nicest shooter of his AKs.  I kept him out of the CETME world although he was pushing hard on that for a while too.

I've only changed out the gas piston for a RSA one, trigger group, and put a rhino grip on it.  The original grip was just too small for comfort.  I love the CETME the best, it's a tack driver, VERY low recoil.  The SAR-1 is still a good shooter, on a normal day I can get 2'' groups at 50 yards with the cheepo wolf ammo.
