Attack/Fighter option
« on: January 05, 2008, 11:27:27 AM »
Why not allow every fighter type of plane use either Attack/Fighter mode.  The p-40B, C205, Yak, 262, 163 and others....why can't you fly them attack mode?  If you say it's because they have no ords to carry...well the TA 152 don't either but you can fly it in attack mode.    Can I not de-ack a base with a 205?  I can kill soft GV's with a p-40b.  If you say thats not what they were designed to do....well then address the Lanstuka problem too.

Maybe they should make it so if you choose attack mode you HAVE to take ords with you.  If you fly clean winged then you HAVE to go in fighter mode.

I have been scratching my head over it once, i mean, a spitv is a f/a plane while c205 is only a fighter, both have cannons and no ord...There are other examples
and i am pretty sure c.205 did ground attack missions in RL.Even if it didn't then why is ta152 a f/a plane?

It might have been answered by HT staff before but i am too lazy to search for it.

If thats the case then stop the Lancs from dive bombing.  And stop people from level bombing cv's. and stop 50cals from tracking tanks and stop people straffing tanks from getting the kills when another tanks actually kills it. and the list goes on.  I wana deack in a 205 and I want my points for it...ok i said it

I don't even know why people would use attack mode, besides make your score make you look good. Only difference between fighter and attack modes are attack mode helps your score get lower and killing gvs counts towards your score. I might have missed 1 or 2 more differences but those are the two biggies. I never go up in attack mode because I just fly, kill, then die; it's all fun.

It is kind of weird though that some planes are only fighter mode though.

It was not the common way to sink flat tops.  I only ever heard of one time a bomber being used to kill ships during the war.

Never said it can't be done just goes with my arguement that it should be changed so allow all fighters to use attack and fighter modes.  Someone said that arguement against changing the attack/fighter profile was the planes in fighter mode only where not used in ground attack rolls.  So I say bombers were not used to sink ships either...get it?

I call this guy a squeaker. He thinks HTC has the ability to prevent planes from strafing tanks and to prevent bombers from flying freely.

What I just heard is, "Put a box around a CV so when a bomber comes nearby it self-destructs and I get the proxy!"

And, "When a fighter shoots a GV it causes kill-shooter to activate and I get the proxy!"

This guys expects HTC to fix everything when he doesn't understand that this is a game. You can't expect people to play real if their adrenaline rush is sparked by dive bombing a lanc onto a CV filled with fighters. So you might as well save your breath and stop asking, unless you want to be the one to make the change.

stroker,

The reason ships were hard to kill with high-altitude level bombing in real life is two-fold:

First, bombers didn't have the laser-accurate bombsights with monkeys-at-typewriters easy calibration.

Second, ships during the real war didn't sit a mile offshore with people complaining they can't take off to join the vulch fest anytime some tried to turn the carrier when the high-alt buffs rolled overhead. Ships MANEUVERED.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

lol not a sqeaker...all i want is to be told WHY there are planes you can't take on attack missions.  And if your going to insult someone make sure you know what your talking about.  And who are you btw  I love it how people totally miss the point

Sorry, had to re-read it. I was so knocked-up about today's events that I totally missed the point. I get amazingly angry at anyone who mentions anything about, "Fix this, this, this, and this."

FYI: How they are classified (fighter/attack/bomber) comes from their historical use. You can use them however you want in-game. However, C205s were never used as an attack plane, nor as a bomber. Thus, in AH they only ever get "fighter" status.

The button doesn't tell you how you can fly it. The button is only for score-whoring purposes. Who cares? Just take the plane you want and fly it. Yaks, 262s, 163s, p40Bs were never used as anything BUT pure figthers. At least, the versions *we have* weren't.

You'll notice, however, that the P-40E does have it?

I'm just wondering why all the fuss over such a minor issue.
