<Salute> to Jolly and the Knights at 98/99
« on: January 08, 2008, 02:23:06 PM »
We had a bad windstorm in Northern California and a power outage gave me a rare Monday off, so naturally I logged on to Aces High for an uninteruped day... As is my usual practice I looked for the biggest "enemy" dar bar in Bishop Land and went to A99 where there was a raging battle in progress with the Knights. I upped a Spit 16 (my favorite TnB fighter) and helped drive off mulitiple attacks by the most determined knight attacks I've seen in a long time. The sides were fairly evenly matched and the battle swang back and forth with neither side gaining a decisive advantage. The Knights threw everything but the kitchen sink at us, GVs PT boats, Low and Hi Altitude Buffs, JABOs and fighter sweeps. I wouldn't have been surprised to actually see flying plumbing fixtures... They had 99s town flat at least 3 times and all hangers down at least as many times. After about an hour of this I got with Twice5 and decided to "sneak" V135 and V136 to take pressure off A99. I upped a 190A8 (my favorite de-acker) and Twice5 upped a C47. After a long flight we arrived, de-acked V135, captured the base, upped M-3s and took V136. A99 was still getting pounded and squaddies had logged on by this time. So SoonerMP and I decided to up B-17s from A78 and drop all the Hangers at A98.  Right after our first bomb run we ran into several fighters and were able to down all but one KI piloted by Jolly. He made several well thought out slashing attacks on us, and killed two of SoonerMP's and one of my drones.  I had used up all of my top and tail gun ammo and had pinged Jolly a few times, until he broke off his attack. Jolly then sent Sooner and I kudos on 200 for our defensive gunning to which we both responded with and complements on his effective attacks. After this exchange of platitudes I noticed a KI on my 6, just out of gun range, and message on 200 from Jolly "Don't shoot". Since I was out of ammo and he WAS out of range anyway, I replied "np". He then flew past my cockpit and gave me a "wing-wag". I was completely blown away by this gesture as was Sooner... I gave Jolly another and since I still had 2 sets of eggs, I wrote on 200 " I still have ord and hate to jettison them so Fights On Jolly".  I got a in response.

So I the Knights who were involved in the best MA battle  I been in on and Jolly for the great fight and the respect. I hope to run into that group again...

I had a kitchen sink ready for you but my JUG was loaded for bear.  My wife told me that I couldnt rip more out of the wall.  It was a good fight.  I was frustrated at the end because every wave you fought us off.  Good job you guys.

It's all unrealistic crap requested by people who want pie in the sky actions performed without an understanding of how things work and who can't grasp reality.

to you as well Sir. It was a great fight. I'd used up most of my ammo on those slashing attacks and then you pw'd me with a nice shot on that last pass. So I landed and upped a fresh bird to come up and have a look at your formation. My thinking was the 2 of you had flown buffs thru some nasty nasty airspace, under constant fighter pressure, for a long while and managed to survive. I figured you deserved a pass on your return flight home. Here's the pic I snapped when I got alongside.

LOL JUGMAN

Postscript:

After all that I flew my 17s dead stick (fuel) into the furball at 99 and got vulched at wheels stop, before I could tower out and land my kills...

Thanks John, It restores me to see civilized behavior and discourse on this forum and in the game... [crosses fingers] so far not one trolling squeaker on this thread...  and it is indeed refreshing to see players that respect and look forward to a hard and honorable confrontation, and JollY is among those. So many will go for the "cheap" kill on an out of fuel/ammo/wounded plane then gloat on 200 [I won't say any names vanscrew].

Kilz he got ONE of my drones, then let me off the hook with me out of rear/top/ball turret ammo I had 3 kills and was vulched by someone else [ironic that I don'rt remember who eh...] at wheels stop at 99 when it was semi cap'd by the knights.  All those green ikons in JoLLYs screen shot were within A99s RADAR circle so you can inagine THEIR reaction to a pair of B-17s rapidly decending (275 kts IAS) through thier airspace! One of the best fights I've seen in the MA... Big Map, NOT Titanic Tuesday, Huge battle, and arena cap at 270... go figure. I guess it shows that you can find a fight on a big map, even with "small" nimbers. Once again to all who were in the "epic" battle at 98/99 on Monday.
