Win2K + wireless usb adapter = ARGGGGGG
« on: January 12, 2008, 07:43:52 AM »
Working on a friends old POS Vaio.  Windows 2K SP3.  I have installed the OEM software for a Netgear WG111v2 and it is driving me nuts.  It connects to my router for about 10 seconds, then I get a "cable unplugged" popup and it resets .  Under network connections it does not list the card as a wireless connection, it only shows up as LAN so I can't just disable it or it kills the wireless card as well.  Tried clicking on the "make new connection" tab and it's only provisioned to set up for dial up access.  Any ideas?

my sons laptop used the same wireless unit, and worked great for a couple years. Then the connection started going and we thought maybe he had worn out the USB connectors (by plugging and unplugging it so many times). We tried other things in the connectors and they didn't drop out, so we just bought a new wireless adapter and its been fine since. (went with a D-link card this time).
