It's been a back burner idea for a couple years after I first learned about it.  I still have the parts for my computer from last year (2.8ghz P4, 1gig ram, FX5900XT, 3-4 spare HD's).  I didn't in the past because of having the need to buy a high end capture card and that lack of a spare ATX case.  After that while, I finally got a hold of an ATX case, so the plans are back on the table, though it is #2 on my list of 'What can I waste my money on without letting my wife know how much I spent' behind a FreeTrack setup.

I searched the forum and saw last year Chairboy was thinking about it etc., but wondering if he or anyone else has successfully completed one.  I don't need HD recording, but the extra parts I have around, should be sufficient to doing what I want as a DVR.

I recently installed MediaPortal, it was a pleasant experience and I'm happy with the ease of setup. I've also configured it to use an xbox controller as a remote. I got everything working just like I wanted, especially in the area's around DTS SPDIF output and component HDTV output, I'm not sure I could do that myself on a linux based platform.

I've been using GB-Pvr for a couple years now. I don't know enough about linux to set Myth up and GB-Pvr does evrything I want including clear qam and HD in windows.
