Bat, trim it manually and you can build speed in a dive and still pull to black out. Keep the motor wound up, don't sacrifice E simply to get the flaps out. The Ki-84 will out-turn the G-14 without flaps between corner speed and 200 mph. The 109 needs at least 3 notches of flaps out to get any edge, but by then, you can get out 1 notch and take the advantage back.

A 109G-2 or 109F-4 will be a hard fight. Frankly, I'd take the 109F over the Ki-84 any day. However, the G-14 is less of a threat if Co-E, Co-alt.

My regards,

Widewing

By trimming out the heaviness do you mean up trim or down trim?
Would this work in a nik cause when i get to 400 it wants to pull itself out of the dive and i think it can go to 450 before parts start falling off.

edit: errrr maybe 425 ish?

In the case of the Ki-84, add some nose-up trim for higher speeds. Not so much that you can't keep the nose down. If you have trim on switch (I have on a 4-way hat on my throttle), you can constantly adjust it. Eventually becomes second nature.

As to the Niki, yeah you can add some nose down trim, I generally don't advise it only because if you don't re-trim, the nose heaviness will be very unpleasant.

yes i was trying it out i just now have a throttle and trying to relearn the game i guess. it really helps me with full flaps out to ad nose down trim so the plane doesnt go full nose up on its own  and stall out.

i fought 109f in nik once it was a difficult fight but i was still out turning him.
what are some of the other planes that are good turning matches for the nik?

The 109F should have torn you to pieces in a turn fight.

Flown well, the 109F holds all the cards in a fight with a N1k.

The N1k might be able to run and out-gun it but that's it in my experience.

109f does seem to have a few bonus features over the niki, but by no means is the nik in the right hands an easy kill. try fighting Numb, Wmlute, wingzero etc in theirs niks and report back :)

I disagree. 2bighorn and I dueled in these two several times. Whoever flew the Niki won. Hard fights, very close, but the Niki holds a slight edge.

Its still kinda strange to see Talon in 109s and not a P-51.

Indule me guys and compare the two for me. Thanks.

The KI84s and the 109s are a good matchup arent they?

Sorry to tell ya bombrich, but i'm offically a Luftwaffe junkie now :( .  I've found my place with the ME and BF 109s sir.

There actually MUCH better than P-51  mustangs, as mustangs can't really dogfight as when a 109 can. Now there are going to be rants about me being wrong and the P-51 can dogfight, but i couldn't do it in that plane.

i can dogfight, BnZ, TnB, in a 109, And i can do everything better than i could do it in a Pony. I'll still be flying ponys, but only if i'm on a escort mission.  My primary ride is the 109s now though.

Awesome low speed fight.

But how do you get into a fight on the deck at less than 80mph without getting picked or mobbed?!?
