polikarpov 1-16 used by soviets most were destroyed on the ground when the nazis invaded and finished off in the air used by ill trained pilots.

You mean I-16? Not 1-16. That would be fun cannon fodder for my 109E :aok


But, I think, since the I-16 would be mostly a novelty, the I-153 would be even better, as its a bi-plane.

Do not be so quick to down the I-16 or I-153.  While antiquated they are quite manuverable and suprisingly resiliant to cannon fire.  It takes alot of concentrated fire to down it, because it is cabable of flying around with holes in it's wings and with damage that would take out a stressed alluminum aircraft. (note: This is based on flying against it in Il2 in the online server "Spits Vs. 109s")  there are other early planes I would love to see as well, the CR.42 for example or the G.50 and MC.200.  So in my sumation of combating it virtually, it is a tight turning suprisingly agile bird that absorbs 20mm and 7mm alike. :cool:
