I have always wondered why people in such positions don't wear some sort of buzzer or something that a handler can activate when they see the person nodding off. Nothing to shock them awake mind you, just something to snap them out of it.
My old boss used to fall asleep in meetings whenever the lights went down low for a presentation. One of my "duties as assigned" was to kick or elbow him when he would get "the nods".
