even the Numbers?
« on: February 06, 2008, 11:15:53 PM »
I know this seems like a whine, it isn't lets get that clear. I am simply asking in fairness if one side is so incredibly out numbered (say over 10 to 15) in an arena that generally has 40 is not entirely fair.

Im simply asking if when numbers are so out of wack, we try to even them out a little, last few days luftwaffe was out numbered 3 times, tuesday almost 3 on 1, thats 30 on 10.

Anyhow I said my peace, just interested to see what anyone else has on the subject.

I don't think side balancing is all that big of a deal with this set up.  I think players should pick a side and stay there for each tour as long as the war is on.

look at the avengers as a paradigm, they stated they would play allied one month then axis the next.  yet they have remained axis through this five week war.  perhaps they will swap for the next 5 weeks but I bet they will remain on whet ever side they select for that until it's over which is as it should be in my opinion.

it seems that temporary imbalances are all a wash over the long haul.

it's been an interesting set up in the AvA and I think that the dynamics should be allowed to play out.

all in all good stuff staff.  will you be continuing with line of play for another set?

Last couple nights ive been on its been closely even.  25-21 or whatever.  Nothing major like you say...  But tonight i did come on late.

Besides...shouldnt matter...

Neither side can have 50% more players then the other to capture a base.  So side balancing shouldnt matter in the war...

Just my 2 cents.

I myself usually look for an imbalance of about 5 players', then I jump to the other side.

However...I know that this set-up encourages' people to pick one side or another, and stay for the duration. I don't get to immerse myself in all of the hidden Axis/Allies forums, or get to 'roleplay' like many have in the arena, and on the BBS here. I do miss out on that segment of it. But If we can't do anything to fix the side imbalances, people will start missing out on the fun. I guess we have to pick one or the other...

Some one can take a base anytime they want. Just if there isnt 15 people on or you have more then 50% more peolple the base wont count for points.

3 to 1 and they never took a base!! id say they are the ones that are out numbered, outgunned and out classed.

maybe they should get some training.....

This has been hashed over a while back.  It seems that most but not all do not mind the imbalance as it goes back and forth all day.  Sometimes you are getting your butt handed to ya, sometimes you are doing the handing.  I agree with you Adonai that the best times are when the numbers are evenly matched up.

well I notice axis only out number and not even 2:1 when its during non-play hours, typically nobody is in there at that time either, but from 6pm-12am EST

I notice at least 10+ more allies on per axis, granted its alright for numbers be a tab un-balanced - but straight out hording will just make some lose interest, as perfect example a country in main arena being horded typically changes sides.

I think having few extra numbers balance out sides with weaker players or whatever but i dont think anyones taking time to go through list of whose experienced or not, rather keep it simple and say if numbers get way to outa wack to least switch sides, even it up even if your not taking bases.

Way gives everyone fair and equal chance to enjoy the AVA

So far I liked being on underdog side, going against one HORDE of allies side, and still coming out landing kills however a new comer to axis side might lose interest sooner and either switch sides or go back to main arena.

Be nice to keep the numbers were having so far, over 40 in AvA last night!

Hello Adonai,

I absolutely agree with you on retaining the numbers in the arena.  Discouraged or disgruntled new pilots is to be avoided at all costs regardless of the arena.  I think some folks and squads should consider switching to Axis in the next go round. My squad has discussed this, and I would enjoy the view from the other side in the next war.

Yeah some view for example 1945 Tour means Axis should be out numbered to make it historically accurate, TRUE, but in a video game always try to promote some fairness, I mean if axis had to many numbers i'd switch allies just to test out some of their planes, since ive really only flown axis for last year in main arena.

I agree completely.  Axis has been both sides of the numbers, usually being outnumbered and really that hasn't given us a problem.  We had issues with milkrunners, but that has largely been eliminated.

I think people should just stay on a side, but I know some guys like to swap back and forth.

Axis has proven they work as a team far better than the allies, and that has largely made their numbers a moot point.

See...now this is a problem of communication.

I was told you couldnt capture a base unless it was what i stated.

Guess i was misinformed!
