Speaking of gun control :rofl
Men fear thought as they fear nothing else on earth -- more than ruin -- more even than death.... Thought is subversive and revolutionary, destructive and terrible, thought is merciless to privilege, established institutions, and comfortable habit. ... Bertrand Russell

"The notion that somehow local jurisdictions can't initiate gun safety laws to deal with gang bangers and random shootings on the street isn't born out by our Constitution," Obama said.

Yeah, Obama isnt the real deal here.   He is being misleading.  Just read the details and its all over.  Oh well....was thinking maybe the guy really is a progressive new thinker but apparently he is just a new box with the same old liberal inside.

Well, just take a close look into that new California law that he wants to have go national.   While it does not take away anyone's guns, in a few years no semiautomatic handguns will be able to be sold in California unless the gun imprints a serial number on fired cartridge case.  The law has nothing to do with imprinting anything on the bullets themselves, as this news article so inaccurately states.

First off, the this technology is not yet proven to be practical.   One small firm holds a patent on the only existing process, and arms makers would have to pay them a license fee to use it, making guns more expensive.   The law also does nothing about revolvers, so if a revolver is used, there is no evidence left behind with a serial number.

Secondly, no handguns that do not have this technology will be able to either be sold or transfered in California after the law goes into effect.   So people owning older semiautomatic pistols will never be able to give the gun or sell the gun to someone else.   When the person dies, the gun will either have to be turned into the police, or taken outside of California.

So within a single generation, all of the many millions of semiautomatic handguns in our country would all have to be eliminated, if this law was made national.   A father could not even leave a gun to his son in his will, for example.

The California Assault Weapons ban works the same way.   People who had AR-15's got to keep them.  But they can never transfer them to anyone else in the State of California.

So the laws are really gun bans, just with a delayed effect.

if drugs and illegals can be smuggled into cal, guns and ammo can be also.

just another "feel good" law that only affects the law abiding people.

criminals don't obey the law, thats why they are called criminals.

Yeah.. he almost had me with the "individual rights" thing and the interpreting the constitution literally..

good sounding till he explains...

yeah.. "individual rights"  so long as they are no rights at all.

Like saying he supports free speech so long as your hands are tied and you have a gag in your mouth.

What a weazel.

I expect the obligatory skeet shooting photo op from this phony.
