Flying NOE 5 sectors to capture the enemy Me163 base and then rolling rockets right next to their HQ.  We stayed up all night defending our outpost until Skuzzy logged on around lunch time the next day and fixed the map bug.  After it was all said and done, we had killed at least 10 Me262s with our rockets, destroyed their HQ at least 10 times, and slaughtered a couple hundred aircraft.

hahah, that was funny. You pm'd me trying to get me to join your 'mission', and I was like huh? you, Grizz, wants to take a base? If I remember correctly it was bustr that actually got the troops in. Good times.
Yeah, that's right, you just got your rear handed to you by a fuggly puppet!

I've actually got two... second far more interesting than the first.

First?
Back in Beta before structural integrity was implemented in the aircraft's wings, and captures were done at the airfield itself, occasionally I'd hear a call for goon, and I'd dive from 10k or so in a C47 and get a rediculous amount of speed built up, then sneak in at high speed and drop drunks.

Second, and much better.
Flyboy, Texmurph, and I were chattin one day, and it was suggested we up P-40Es. We went up to about 10-12k high and headed towards an enemy field that had a glowing band of red with still a low-ish number of green. By the time we got there, all of the friendlies were dead, and it was just us 3 with about 10 enemies co-alt and lower. The furball starts. Flyboy and Tex flew nose low to the left, I went nose high to the right. The 2 co-alt cons turned my way, and Flyboy and Tex took them out quickly. Then we started a bunch of BnZ passes on the other 8 cons, constantly covering each other when the enemies would get in behind us. All in all said, the battle lasted about 15+ minutes, and we left with all 10 enemy cons destroyed. Landed with Flyboy at 5 kills, Tex at 3 kills, and myself at 2, all in the 40E.
That was some of the best fun I've ever had.

In the MA, nothing's really stood out other than the first time I upped an ME163.  They got the feeling of strapping your backside to a bottle rocket down beautifully on that plane.  It always feels like it's going to fly apart at any moment, and that makes me laugh.

My favorite so far though, was in the FSO, was flying a Hurricane escorting bombers.  The enemy came in, in the ensuing fight I got pilot wounded.  I figured we were too far from a friendly base for me to make it home under any circumstances, so I stuck around in the fight.  My squad fought a bit, then started to do a rolling retreat.  As we got clear of the enemy fighters and started cruising, I gradually started to feel flickers of hope that I might make it down at the friendly airfield.

My blackouts are coming in more and more often as I'm on final.  I actually blacked out, straightened out as much as I could, heard my wheels touch down, and came to consciousness in time to correct my heading as I touched down the second time for good.  Left gear went out and I heard all manner of bad mechanical noises as I skidded down the runway.

The noises stopped, and I came back to consciousness, upside down in the middle of the runway, missing pretty much everything but the cockpit.  A cheer erupted loud enough to make Mrs. Wiley jump about 3 feet.  As I was typing in '.ef'...  The screen went red and I died.  A blast of profanity that turned the paint color in that corner of the room immediately ensued.  Lesson learned, have the '.ef' in the buffer as you're skidding to a stop in that situation in the future.

Nothing I did was spectacular, but just the situation was entertaining.

Wiley.

An FSO where I caught about 13 B26s rearming while in a 262.

A favorite FSO moment was in the Aleutian yadda yadda event. BearKats and I  were by ourselves with two of the only few 38g's and ran into swarms of zeke2 and zeke5's. Killed 16 or so each and made it home, picking up dantoo and another guy along the way. :)

- Anytime I fly a P-40 right into the middle off a red horde  :x

- Flying the goon mission Karaya posted that crashed the server...that was year and years ago  :rock I have a screen shot of that on my old PC showing a FR of 1.

1 of almost 45 goons that dropped troops.   The text lag made it worth it though.     :joystick:

My fav moment isa when I flew with the 68th, austex and I encounterd a horde of bish trying to take a rook field. Now we had a gv spawn into it so we upped 2 M3's and while they were fighting over the air base we came in and snuck it right out from them.. In the process I got 3 kills posted for that. LOL just imagine reading

3 moments come to mind.
1) IN AH 1 you could crash your goon down and get troops out. Well surrounded by red cons all over the place but hadnt been spotted. So figured what the hell go for it. Ran the goon into the ground crashed landed and took the bases with 20+ cons coming under fire from field ack.

2) Shooting down a 262 with A Hurricane. Guy kept vulching took off from the other runway and hit the rudder nailing the 262

3) Flying B-17s shot down 3 Lancs in the gunner position. Guess the guy was AFK cause I managed to get right behind him and follow him to his target. As soon as he opened his doors I unloaded with the 50 cals. Before I knew the guy was shooting from the top turret trying to hit whatever. The guy was firing every but at me.  :rofl

Flying along in a Tempest to a field roughly one sector away by the coast on one of the gigantic maps. Around 2 or 3 k out of the field @ around 7k feet a bishop b-24 joker mission started upping.

I swooped in and did a pass from the direction that they were taking off into, so head on. There must have been something like 40+ planes on the runway, in various stages of their take off rolls. I opened up and scored multiple hits. By the time I zoomed away I had 15 kill messages.

In the midst of it all I took a radiator hit and only noticed it after I had already started climbing back up (Thanks to a squad mate saying it looked like my bird is leaking). I tried to gain as much E and when the engine died I set it to max glide. The tension involved with returning to base was significant. After touch down I had too much speed and noticed that with no engine my breaks were not responding. I veered the plane and ended up upside down just a few feet shy of the end of the runway. When I exited the score was at 16 or 17 as some of the planes that got away initially went down later from engine fires.
