VISTA and AH installation tip
« on: March 12, 2008, 06:53:05 AM »
Scuzzy will for sure add some input here but after having vista for a year now the one thing i can tell you that will take a lot of the headaches out of putting AH on a vista machine is when you first install the game on your system install it as the Administrator! First open I.E. using run under administator, log on to AH and download the file, then close I.E.. Then open the file once again running under administrator and install it. When i first installed AH i had all kinds of problems, but once i installed it as administrator i haven't had any major issues at all. I know scuzzy has said it before but take it from me it's going to save you a lot of frustration if you do it right the first time.

It only applies to those who are not the administrator for the computer.  Quite frankly it is easier if you simply make sure your account also has administrator privileges.

Yep your right there scuzzy. I had administrative rights from the start but for some reason i never seemed to correctly get the game installed under that. I'm not sure if it has to do with running I.E. under that setting when you download the setup file or not? From what i understand, and i admit i'm a novice with vista, it's not recommended to run vista under administrative settings while surfing the web, so if you don't open it in admin mode then it's not in that mode. Not exactly sure about that but that's what i've been able to figure out so far from looking at the microsoft website. I really wish they'd make the next edition even harder to use so we can step back 50 years in tech. :cry
