The Squeek Effect

I never really noticed it till I was watching A few films and heard myself..

I sound about 14 instead of 27, another squaddie is pushing "dirty old man" status and sounds 9.. then you have the members that are actually in their early teens who make you want to throw your headphones due to the shrillness.

then again, some people sound fine, fine being they are 30 and sound 30...

on ventrillo I sound NOTHING like I do on vox, my voice isn't an octave higher..


why does vox "squeekalize" some people, but others it does not?

You're a squeaker and you cannot even spell your AvA Squadron correctly.   The latter is cause enough to dispel your "outrageous claims" of "not being one".

I run my mic thru an equalizer to avoid any squeekalization....

In game vox makes my voice sound deeper.  It does seem to pick up higher pitched voices and make them higher though.

I am pretty sure it's vox that causes the effect. On ventrilo with other games even the youngest person doesn't sound as high-pitched over voice comms as they do on AH. Not sure if they just relay the voice much better or if they use a smoothing effect.
