Help/suggestions on file format and upload
« on: March 28, 2008, 08:49:03 AM »
Hi, all.

Couple of questions regarding my 30 second film club entry...

First, I've mainly been working on miniDV prjects til now, or projects that use television resolution and quality. I've only rarely done multimedia file exports (i.e. for web upload).

I'd like to get some thoughts on what you are all using for your compression settings.

Also, now that Stage6 is gone, where can one upload their video when done? Youtube resamples to a poorer quality, so I would like to avoid that if possible. My webhost is pretty decent, but not set up and not meant for multi-MB files being downloaded repeatedly by many folks on the web.

I just upload my .wmv to mediafire, and it's just a simple download. 30 sec. film should be like a 2 min video....

Good Luck

From recently youtube will allow you to have res up to 640x480.Just add &fmt=6 at the end of your link to display higher res version of your vid.

I don't like vimeo because I can't access it at work here (requires flash 9). I think I will try youtube (I have 1 file up there from years back, can look up my login/pw and try it again), but I like the mediafire suggestion.

EDIT: So, any suggestions on compression settings? I don't want the file to be TOO huge, nor TOO blurry.

Krusty, only recently uploaded videos have the high res option. You can also try adding &fmt=18
