Ye olde AvA
« on: April 01, 2008, 09:51:08 AM »
How about we olde members of the AvA meet up in the DA on Sunday nights and go at it as we did in the days of yore?  8:00p.m. Sunday night sound ok?

No base capture, no vulching, just gentlemanly fights to the death.

Any suggestions for airframes?  Here's what I'm thinking:

109-K4 vs P51-D  (classic duel of the titans)
Mossie vs 110-G2  (might be fun to try)
P-47N vs 190-D9 (interesting matchup)
P39Q vs 190-G2 (Dunno how the P39 performs, might be a mismatch)

Lot of good fighters from AvA's past, hate to see them go out to pasture in the MA.

What say ye?

8:00 Eastern?   I can't make it till 10:00pm eastern but I'll try to come.
Could you list the bases we will be using and what country is what.

It'll be interesting to see how it works out.....I have a bad feeling it will be overrun with dorks who don't care about the planeset and our rules...and nothing we can do about it.

Thanks for trying though :salute

Well we'll just have to hope on the honor of the participants.  Planeset isn't really an issue as long as one side is axis and one side is allied.  I'd be disappointed to see nothing but Spixteens and LA7's against 262's.  Again, I'd defer to the honor of the participants.

Rules shouldn't be a problem, all the old AvA'ers know the drill and can encourage any of the newer folk who want to come.  Merge at 3k or so, no HO on the initial merge(it's pointless to ask everyone to not ever HO), and get it on.  Simple enough.

Hehe I'm not little!!  :D

I have been finding it very difficult the last few weeks to get online on the weekend, with Spring coming in June it will only get harder.  But If I am online on Sunday at 8pm EDT I would love to join in. <S>

Apparently you've never been to Western NY in March.  Spring starts in June.

Hopefully Oldman can join us, an Oldman kill is generally one worked for.  1Duke1 in his deadly P40.  My memory is failing, but there used to be some indredible P-47 pilots in the AvA of Olde.  LTARget, haven't seen him in awhile.  Trieze, dunno if he's still in the game.

Anyone know some old ID's common to the AvA who are still around?

Trieze is on again off again.  Last I knew, he was off again.

I've been in a few times, but my playing time has been (or at least seemed) shorter than ever, and frankly, I have found the recent "war" to be a disappointment.  I didn't expect it to be the same as the old AvA, but when even TK decided to put me down for asking for a fair(er) fight when the Axis were hording, the luster disappeared in a hurry.

Which is why I really like your idea.  I don't usually find time to play on Sundays, but I'll do my best to make time.

Oh, btw, the handle changed about three months ago (see sig).  That might be part of the reason you haven't noticed me around - or maybe ships passing in the night - or maybe I really haven't been on much.  But thanks for noticing.   That apparently makes one of you. :)

Cool, didn't know about the name change.  :)

We can change the day to any day really, if more people would be able to play on Friday or Saturday.  I'm up for anything.  I can usually play from 7:00 central on.  The point is just to get some good olde tyme fights going minus the current drama.

Maybe if we can rebuild the camaraderie that once existed, the AvA war can be saved.
