A request for a large scale mission.
« on: April 03, 2008, 10:58:09 PM »
Dunno if this is even possible....

8th AF raid-type mission. (circa late 1944, sorta like DGS)

Using Rhine map. (if someone could post me the map, i could figure out how to place targets etc..)

This is my general idea. Things could be changed.

8th AF:
7 B-17's. (formations) 12 .5 k bombs. 20k. Bomber Group 1A.---/Within 5 miles of 1B.

7 B-24's. (formations) 8 1k bombs. 20k. Bomber Group 1B.------/Within 5 miles of 1A.

6 P-51D's. Close escort. always within 2-3 k of lead bomber. Priority is FW190A's. Unit: 4th FG

4 P-38L's. 2 as scouts (dunno if thats possible or not). other 2 5-10 miles in front of bombers. Unit: 474th FG

6 P-47D-25's. 5 k above bombers. Flying Wing formation. engage any targets. Unit: 78th FG.

Luftwaffe:

8 BF-109K-4's. Protect 190A-8's at all costs. Engage bombers if given opportunity. Unit: JG3/I

6 BF-109G-14's. Help escort A-8's and engage enemy fighters. Unit: JG3/II

6 FW-190D-9's. 2 as scouts. Other 4, 4-5 k above JG3. Attack any and all targets. Unit: JG11/1.

8 FW-190A-8's. Engage bombers. Unit: JG3/III

Like i said, general idea of things. I hope someone can give me some feedback.

I would do this myself, i just do not have the time.  :cry

This could be VERY immersive.

From what I've read, it starts getting screwy after 8 aircraft, and most likely fails all together with 20.

86 aircraft in one area, that'd be an impressive sight, real shame it would crash the
game once you attempted to launch.

How bout 1 combat box formation of B17's escorted by plane of your choice intercepted by
plane of your choice?

The three most common expressions (or famous last words) in military aviation are:'Did you feel that?' 'What's that noise?' and'Oh S...!'

I currently working on a combat box formation mission and you really can add only 1 or 2 more planes before it get's unreliable. Perhaps in the coming beta releases it my get better.

Can you make a combat box mission with no time limit? Just give us a 190a8 with 30mm, another with 30mm and rockets, and let us attack and reup/rearm as many times as we want?

I'm not thinking fun per se, as much as I am thinking angles practice for attack runs.

Unfortunately, there's no way to do that. But I can make it so there's plenty of time to attack the formation. If you look at this thread to see what I've got so far-

http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,232207.0.html

I intend this to be the full combat wing of 60 B-17's vs. JG26 and JG1 on 19 Aug 1943. There was a mix-up and they bombed an airfield in Holland without any escort. The route and timing is within 10 minuets of the actual mission. You'll have over an hour to attack the formation, from over the channel all the way to target and back.

I will then make a second version that has Bf 109G-14's, Bf110's,& Fw190A-8's in place of the Fw190A-5's and Bf109F's that were actually used.

Cool!

Is it possible to set up interceptors?

Or can it only be just yourself?

It's posted, check it out-

There are four schwarms of interceptors so you won't be attacking alone.

Good Luck!
