Oh, I hosed up that second picture when I scanned it. scroll full right to capture how awesome it is.  See all the crew chiefs laying on the wings? Apparently the angle of the cockpit was steep enough on the roll that the crew chiefs guided them to runway. :)  Awesome, eh?

I'll see your WWII color photos and raise you a color video of WWII gun cam footage and some very nice clips of some P47s

Great clip there. That one hanger got absolutely HOSED through the open door towards the end of the clip.  :O
