led.. I have no idea about what you said except that you didn't like his political views.

You are aware that he marched alongside the original civil rights leaders and was very active in civil rights?

He was a very well written man also.. it would serve you well to read some of his thoughts.. they do not differ much from mine.   He was a lover of individual freedom.   He was not himself toward the end which is so much more the tragedy.

He really was a perfect fit for such movies later in life like Planet of the Apes...  Omega man and soylent green.

Yah, some guys ya just love their on-screen persona--Spencer Tracy WAS a great actor, and I always liked his movies (the original 3:10 to Yuma is my fav)

Wasn't that Glenn Ford and Van Heflin in the original?

I also posted in one of my threads [guess this one will get deleted as well] that he could quote the Constitution as well as he could the Bible.

It's been said we have three brains, one cobbled on top of the next. The stem is first, the reptilian brain; then the mammalian cerebellum; finally the over developed cerebral cortex.  They don't work together in awfully good harmony - hence ax murders, mobs, and socialism.

Agree or disagree with him politically he was a man of convictions and honor. He was also part of the greatest generation of Americans ever.

That said, WTF does Ledpig have that I don't??? I put down Corvettes and Diablo just laughs it off- I pimp Vista and Skuzzy ignores me- I promote drug use and nobody even calls me an idiot- and Ledpig, OTOH, gets you guys wound tighter than a two dollar watch!

I'm going back to Stripper Web. They may be bimbos, but at least they're MY bimbos.  :frown:

Well, as I said in my earlier post, before I mastered my anger....I always found Charlton Heston to be a reasoned and articulate spokesman for the NRA and other conservative causes.  He was a great actor and will be sorely missed.

Salute to a great American who served his country in WW II.

Well said and I have to say that there is little I could add to that. He spoke his mind and used reason to make his point rather than tantrums.

RIP SSgt Heston, another of the Greatest Generation gone.

I think he would appreciate it not as a passing so much but as a release from alzheimers.

Fair skies and tailwinds forever.  :salute

I have always liked his movies, but then again I also like Johnny Depp's, never understood why people get so wound up about an actors political views.

Johnny Depp's movies where he isn't redoing something that was origanally done by one of the Hollywood greats' aren't bad. However, his Willy Wonka portrayal in Charlie and the Choclate Factory Made me go out and buy the original to make sure my kids' saw how it was done right. Depp's Wonka was not good at all; I found Gene Wilder's portrayal much closer to the book. (Hijack: off)

Charleton Heston was a great actor and a great man. He will be missed by many, many people. He would be a suitable role model for many of the today's young people by the strength of his convictions and zeal for life. His life's accomplishments and the respect he commanded are truly to be admired.

To George Clooney, Bill Mohr, and Alec Baldwin: You publicly expressed glee at the news Heston had contracted Alzheimers. You were giddy that a fellow human being was going to die in such a slow horrible manner. Are you still happy today? How will you face your death when the time comes? Will you do it with diginity and character, or will you make the talk-show rounds, do Oprah, blame conservatives, and otherwise cry, whine, and wring every last molecule of pity, sympathy, and attention out of your situation? Nevermind. I think everyone already knows the answer to that.

Peace be with you Charleton Heston.
