Dang IT.... video card decision time!

OK guys heres the situation............

AGP CARD!

Older HIS brand ATI 1600 vid card on my sons machine is acting up.

replaced heat sink paste and tried every driver that would work including original.

Keeps locking up.

Was odd it started out SEEMING to have a argument with his Razor Copperhead mouse?

Mouse would stop working then work then stop?

So here we go.

Got any suggestions as to a possible fix?

And any suggestions as to a comparable NVidia card.

I looked at NewEgg and see same brand HIS, ATI, but in 1650 for around $80 and some Sapphire brand just about the same price or little lower.

Was thinking of going to Nvidia as the reports are mainly driver issues and some have heat problems >>> (this seems to be mainly the Sapphire brand of ATI)

I was actually just reviewing BIOS updates for my Asus motherboard (P5NE-SLI) and it mentioned that there was a BIOS update that resolved coflicts with locking up on Razor mice.

AGP is really starting to get expensive for the performance it offers.  I'd maybe look to ebay for a used video card instead of buying a brand new one.

So your system is just locking up during a game?  Frozen screen, or BSOD?

Locks up or the razor mouse go away, then comes back then goes away or razor mouse just goes away.

Having the aticcc.msi install thingy too..................

looks like something went do doo doo land here :( :furious :furious

Im AGP also...I put in a 7950 GT Card...Love it and it screems...
