Who's up for a pure TAnk vs Tank battle?
« on: April 12, 2000, 02:49:00 PM »
Anyone have any thoughts on setting up the first tank vs tank battle in the SEArena?

Just off hand I'd say we'd need pretty fair balance for this one.

Any suggestions for starting points? Whats the best terrain for an event like this.
What 2 bases are evenly matched terrain wise?

Next, how do we decide who wins?
First team to knock out ack on the home base wins??  Or most tanks killed, lost, etc?
Also there are lots of side issues like flat terrain vs rugged. M16's allowed or not, date, time, should this be a one life event, etc.

I'm willing to step up & help make this happen. I think there will be a huge turnout for this.

Idea's anyone?

I'd do it.
Semi-Mountainous terrain would be best (rolling hills).
50/50 split may not be ideal -- I'm in favor of an asymmetrical objective (flatten/save a city for example).  You probably won't have that many M16s -- they'd serve as scouts and spotters, but .50s don't do much against panzers.

Then again, cities have the "invisible building" collision thing, while big fields don't.

Ghosth you over see the whole thing. I would then suggest the following set up.

1. Have two C.O.'s to lead each side.
2. Everyone, but the C.O. roll in tanks.
3. Each C.O. takes a M16 half-track.
4. Each C.O. is restricted to his base.  They can maneuver on the base, but not off of it.
5. Opposing side roll from their base and attack the enemy base with the final objective of killing the M16 with the C.O.
6. Assign a few tank commanders to lead some squads.
7. Once the text buffer logs the death of a C.O. each member of the side who lost will pay for one month of Aces High toward the surviving C.O.'s account. This will be enforced by pyro or he will ground everyone who does not send a check.

I volunteer to be a C.O.
