Well, I was too busy doing the Allied paperwork, flight assignments orders etc. to really know just what exactly happened out there.

I *think* we fared pretty well.

Anyone care to fill me in? AARs would be nice... and go ahead and post pics if ya got em.

Cheers and <S> guys!

Great work Nash, Zigrat! and Duck for making it happen.

AAR?, gosh my head is still spinning! That was just all too fun!

Camel/SpitV#2/a15Malta/

Mission; Defensive Cap over Malta

Lifted off NE, and formed with Zigrat. After a few moments of chaos, flights formed. In the climb out, the flight encountered high 109's, we engaged. <Insert foggy haze here> I was on my way outa the fight and climbing, when I noticed Sauve in trouble. I dove in and scored a 109. Long climb back to Zig <more 109's, 202's, more fog>. Looked around and didnt see but a few spits, (me Zig and another) heading towards a wall of dots vectored at Malta. JU88's w/scourt, I followed Zig in, and scored hits on the 88's.
We reversed, Zig kills 88 I get assist. I start trailing a low 88 otw to the Harbor, and give him all the ammo I had, then broke off to rearm. While rtb I get a kill message(musta been the 88). I rearm, and get airborn to find a very agressive 109, and 205 then a 2nd 109, a few thousand yards from a15. I fought with them while they smoked my engine. I fought with them while my engine died. I fought with them while my plane couldnt fly anymore. I ditched.

Salute All!

c202's had probs taking off but eventually got on. Met high altitude Spits, blew through. Fight got lower, I got one one Spit's tail and stayed there. Repeatedly pinged him, but 2*12.7 + 2*7mm really don't do a lot of damage. FIght got spread out, and three c202's were lost to Spits.

Strauss scored one kill, I got one, rest of the force rtb'd when no opposition was left.

c202's did good, considering the rather limited armament.

Was very good snapshot, very amusing

Flight 19 - Bf109f's commanded by Vila.

We had a normal launch and rondezvoused with the JU88's over the north of Sicily.  By the time we were feet wet, the advanced sweeper 109's had encountered the Spitfires.  Details were sketchy, but it was apparent that our 109's fared poorly, given the odds.  By the time Malta was in sight on the horizon, we had reports from our forward high cover of Spitfires above us.  Soon we spotted  2 groups of Spitfires, one to our west (right of us), and one to our north (behind us).  Before along, the Spits were making runs on the JU88's.  I ordered my flight to engage.  Nath drew first blood for us.  We tried to stay as close to bombers as possible while avoiding the swirling Spitfires.  I noticed we were getting tied up and pulled away from the bombers, so I ordered my group to break off from engagements and get back to the bombers.  When I got to the JU88's, I noticed a Spit turning onto the 6 of one of them.  I rolled in behind him and gave him a few hits.  He twisted and turned, avoiding my fire.  Fortunately Nath was there as well and finished him off, with an assist for me.  I heard Tread call a kill soon after this.  By this time, most of the Spitfire resistance had died down, but one was a chasing an egressing JU88.  I closed and engaged.  The Spitfire proved slippery, but after a long fight I gained the victory with an assist to my wingman JCY19. I ordered all of flight 19 to rtb at this point.  I later learned that we lost Nath, but not before he forced another Spitfire down.

Flight 19 claims 5 enemy aircraft destoyed for 1 lost.

Well whatever else may have happened the spits on Malta will NOT be flying for the next week. Saw all 3 fuel storage facilities go up bam bam BAM!

Congrats to a great setup by Duckwing, and excellent efforts from Nash & Zigrat!

JU88 Flight

Well after some quick reorganisation due to the A16 Airfield bug we took off North from a17 to group up before heading East to v51 where we met up with our escorts led by Vila.  The flight turned South direct to Malta (a15) staying on auto-climb.  Our target was the Port at Malta.

Unfortunately during the confusion of the airfield bug we didn't link up with one of our JU88 and he had to go alone at low alt.

At about 20 miles north of our target and within visual range we were intercepted by the enemy Spitfires - we were at about 17-18k alt and went level for speed.  They were upon us before we knew and they took advantage of that by downing one or two JU88s.  Luckily we were able to proceed to the target thanks to our fighter cover.  Due to our level flight speed we had to make two passes on the target resulting in heavy damage to the port. I had intended a level bombing run, but to dive-bomb if we were totally overwhelmed.  I am not sure whether it came to this.  The flight became very dispersed at this point so I really don't know what happened to the entire flight without further input from our flight.  I personally scored one Spitfire kill (sammu) but I suffered one engine damaged.

On returning to base, a18, I was on approach and had about 2 miles to go when I just lost too much E and entered a non-recoverable stall and plumetted into the sea.  I believe out of the entire flight (15 inc Udie?) only 5 JU88s made it home.  I guess it wasn't to bad considering the lack of defensive guns on the JU88.

On another note, Mr Joe started to engage the Spitfire's flying the JU88 like a Me110 and yes, he did make it home!  <S>

Anyway, this was my first ever time as a flight leader and actually piloting a JU88 in combat (alot better and touger than I expected) and having to deal with radio channels (open, country, flight, escort & RW) created a lot more immersion for me.  The enabled friendly collisions made the flying in a large formation a lot more fun and it gave us some indication as to what and how difficult real formations were like.

Salute to all, especially the pilots of the JU88s!

Regards

At first I misunderstood I've confused the snapshot with Med league and Afrika korps ...

So instead of my trusty Yak (or La5fn) I jump in a strange plane called Spit V looking around I find how to start the engine ,I test the beast on deck : bof, at alt : bof ,ammo WOW! what can I do with an such enormous quantity of ammo   it's 7.7 say dudule my wingman
god! a popgun equiped plane ...

Now airborne we look around to see the 1st wave of 109 send to get us low  ,it's a trap we don't engage ... after a while (heck ! this plane is sluggish) Dudule spot a brunch of 88 we jump into the fray
I heard dudule : got one got one !!
during that I start shooting a 88 ... with popgun (where I've mapped secondary fire?? ... ok use the keyboard straffo ) proudly I see the 88 going down with her gunner.

Good start... so I see Zigrat engaged by a 109 I try to catch the 109 just to see Zigrat bailling out I disengage to be jumped by a 202 a low level chase start : rolling, jinking and (doing lot of not academic voltige  ) after a while the 202 get away tired with my not friendly maneuvers I beleive he thing I've the Alzhemeir desease

Disengaging again I spot a not alone 88 and got a snapshot on on engine ... and try to get away followed by a 109,without E one only option : RUN AWAY screaming like a little girl.
And now the mistake I try to get a ground looping to get lift and it ended my plane covered with mud
The end...

result :
1 Ju88 destroyed for sure
1 ju88 with perhaps a damaged engine
1 202 pinged by popgun

1 spit V and his pilot under 2 meters of dust/mud near Malta

2nd. International Combat Sqad (Liberated)

We took off from Malta and started to climb circleing near the base in a loose formation. After realizing one single RW setting would be a mess, Zig decided to split the Spits in 2 wings, one for English-speaking pilots, another one for the rest of us.

I had the honour of commanding the "rest of us" (Alvaro, Sansal, Busc, Dudule, Straffo and myself) wing, whose bravery, and flight skills would be remarkable after the fite. So was their Language aptitude (we were talking a mixture of English/Spanish on RW)

Our wing was assigned NE of Malta, and we climbed to angels 24 and starting our patrolling between 14,7,6 and 15,7,5 on a fuel conservative basis. We heard of a small engagement between fiters but since Zig didn't call for help, we continued our patrol, searching for JU's.

Was on our back leg (hdg 270º) when our Squad spotted a huge formation with dots ranging between 20 and 25k aprox. Went to full power, climbed to 26k, and divided our wing bewteen the french, who dived to atack the bombers (WTG, Dudule and Straffo) and Alvaro, Sansal, Busc and Me who tried to cover up and kill escorts. The cover group started a loose left turn and a shallow dive on the escorts. Busc was winging me when I dived into a Bf109's tail. Closing fast, I opened up around 400yds with .303, and landed a few pings with no apparent damage. I was starting to overshoot due to lack of trimming so, when I get to 100 yds, I made a roll to the left and open with 20mm. with the final result of a big bright orange fireball

After that, and realising that all our Squad was messing in the BIG furball, I tried to order my group to arrange in couples, only to discover that Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe had struck my RW and my Host connection had gone bananas.

After several failed attempts I managed to rejoin Med Arena, only to know that the frame was over so far.

To all Allies, thanks for your efforts. To all my one night squaddies, WTG in bright (green) neon letters. To all Axis <S>, and  next time DON't mess with my RW!, no electronic warfare allowed   .

Was the best time I had in AH so far.

Pepino.

(sorry for long post).

straffo, might have been Strauss  . The Spit I was following was shamus  .

But, it is quite likely that you were one of the other Spits down low I was engaged with.

Heh that was fun  .

Sure it's Straus he got my virtual death on the conscience
I believed he was in the 109 on my tail so he landed some ping on me ... doesn't heard it in the heat of the battle...

What! Collisions where offfff!!!   You shoulda heard how nervous we were about our formation. In the future, I would turn it on. Makes the long flight to target much more interesting. Especially when flying with Trell the road hog   I think I musta had a cloaking device on for this mission. I was one of the first Junkers to hit the target, made 2 passes, dropped my whole load, and only ever had 2 spits within icon range!. I fired some long shots at a spit but I think he was concentrating on someone else. On my second pass over the base, I got to see the damage to our target, and it looked to me like we had flatened it. And that was before I made the second drop   I was able to egress away to A18 without any hassle, and made it back to the O club first, where I promptly diped into the celebratory beer   Really fun scenario fellas, I had a blast. Keep up the good work. <S> to the RAF and to the Luftwaffe.
