To Fork or who ever is in charge...........
« on: April 19, 2008, 06:33:06 PM »
I was wondering if you would allow us to continue the war please.   Making it so we can't capture bases  and turning it in to a DM  arena is we'll really boring and the alieds side were just starting to learn how to work together.  I mean we have lost every war to the axis.  And we are just really staring to learn how to work together.  And actually win one of theses war for once.

We just lost our Co and XO and were very confused and kind of lost at lest I was.   And with the help of  the Avengers which are playing on our side this map we were just starting to get it together again when you came in and  changed the arena to no base capture.  I wish you would re consider this move and change it back .

If the alied can not really do anything together for 2 week then it will probably completely destroy  everything we have learned and make it like it was before.  I mean we are just barely starting to learn how to work together.

Any ways  I hope you will consider changing it back to normal.   :salute

I love it this way. At last I dont have to worry about a horde of Lancasters coming in at 2k knocking out all the hangars at my base so I cant fly and have fun again for another 24 hours.

Just work on your ACM and enjoy it for what it is at the moment. Try flying the Axis side a little. I spent the afternoon in the A6M5 and had a blast.
Another war will start soon enough. Not everybody enoys the war, not everybody enjoys this. The war ran about two and a half months, a week or two of regular flying isn't going to kill anything. Let the folks that want to do air to air have a little fun as well.

The settings last night were perfect; we had sea battles, land battles, base captures and air to air battle going on all night.  The numbers were good and the plane set great; I still feel that turning off base captures is a step backwards for the arena.  Don't get me wrong, I'm not condoning 24 hour down times, but last nights settings were a blast.  I even liked the idea of kill shooter being off; we had to be careful when in a furball.  <S>

The problem Lutrel is that during off-hours, there are players on both sides that milkrun the arena.  Unless I had a way to enable base capture based on player #'s, the base capture is turned off.  Besides, the next couple of rounds are the old AvA.  :salute

Mister Fork, I understand your perdiciment and appreciate our candor on the matter.  We are not going anywhere, but my boys get restless when they can't tear things up.  I will probably be forced to take them into the mid war arena once a week to blow off some steam.

I do hope however, the base captures in the AvA are not a thing of the past, as it truely is a team building experiance for all squads that are involved; I know we had a great time last night with good numbers while fighting for ownership of bases.  :salute

well after 2 week of this no body on the alied side will be working together any more and the the axis can just  roll over us and  win the next 5 rounds like they did before and I guess everyone will be happy then.   :furious

Why don't you practice in Mid War?  It's just 2 weeks.  I've sat out for 2 and half months now because I didn't like the new game play.

No I will stay and work on my DF skills in the american planes .    I am sorry I am kind of upset.   I was just glad to see the alieds really work together too  win one of these war.  It was a true miracle .   We all work very hard to do it .   I just  hope that after 2 week of flying around   that we will still be able to work together when we start up the  real war again.

Any ways I am sorry for my harsh comments.    :salute

Would upping the count of troops needed to capture bases help?
I know they've been upped to 35 for the past couple tours, but wouldn't having to pop in about 60-75 troops really throw a wrench into a milkrunners day?

It'd also make capturing severely difficult when both sides are organized. In effect you'd have capture turned off, but to an organized force, they'd be able to capture.

Sorry Chapel the problem with base capture in my opinion goes far beyond milkrunning.  When you up the number of troops you increase the blood pressure of the combatants (so to speak).  Troop carriers are very lightly amoured and mostly defensless.  In order to capture anything you would either sneak in to defended or non defended towns, or severely outnumber your opponent.  Which of the above components of base capture is promoting a 1 vs 1 dogfight?

and it continues.  we have snuck troops in to capture bases with defenders COVERING the maproom.  we have snuck goons in with defenders all in the air.  we did it routinely, squad night after squad night capturing bases is easy the problem is the bandwidth wasters aren't even good at toolshedding.

up the troops required for a capture to be 50 or 100.  this will provide what everyone wants, well everyone except the weakling who only want teh rib bons for teh sigline.  you will have the ability to take a base for the tooltardlings you will have to fight to get it though, this will keep the mass murderlings happy.  leave the building downtimes at lengthy periods but provide for resupplying allow the bases to be fully up with four loads of base supplies.  this will keep the supplylings happy.  everyone will have a job to do and they will require co-operation and SKILL to get anything accomplished.

I know the staff is denser than plutonium so go ahead read this see if it penetrates then in about two years call it your idea.  it will just be our secret.
